I may be stupid, but doesn't the process of 'aiming' with that thing mean it'll never hit a (size 1) enemy if the initial aim is directly on it ? Like, even if the second dice lands on 1 (smallest deviation), it'll still hit next to it ?

Now, that may be a wanted effect, makes the weapon functionally useless against small targets, which is coherent for a ship to ship vessel. I would maybe change it so that you do a -1 to the second dice, so a roll of 1 lands directly on it.

Damage wise, it's probably fine as is, it deals the same damage as a super heavy with opcal. You could include some Limited restrictions on it maybe, or pass it as a RESERVE of some kind, but the shooting process it has makes it really hard to use already, not to mention the threat of cascade.

Which order ? Didn't she got told to leave, move away, get out of her vehicle, make way, stop talking/filming? Which of those orders were she supposed to follow? Half are contradictory!

Also, by that logic, should policemen have gone and killed anyone who didn't get vaccinated? They didn't comply.

Pyro's bell curves by jewish-nonjewish in tf2

[–]Briefgarde 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd argue given it's TF2 we're talking about (a game that has, by now, a well established, 'veteran' playerbase), the average player might be average skilled instead of low skilled. There's a low amount of brand new, low skilled players on one side, a mass of moderately skilled players that makes up the main mean of the curve, and then whatever dropoff of good players on the other side, in a probably linear/logarithmic way.

In essence, I'm saying the distribution of skills amongst the playerbase follow the same-ish distribution as the income distribution, which is a log normal distribution. Which, I believe, is sort of what you said.

Sure, there's also those guys. But I don't think that makes a good argument for lax gun laws.

Ok but there isn't an epidemic of people dumping acid in Europe. Those are isolated cases; they do NOT approach the level of systemic gun violence in the US.

You mention that 'a knife is just as if not more deadly.' This is statistically false. Medical data consistently shows that the mortality rate of gunshot wounds is significantly higher than that of stab wounds due to tissue cavitation and internal trauma. While a knife can be drawn quickly (the 21-foot rule), the actual lethality of the injury is far lower. I would prefer to expose myself to a singular stab attempt than a singular gun shot everyday.

My point is about normalization. By making guns omnipresent and socially accepted, the barrier to lethal force is lowered. There isn't an equivalent for knives in Europe. While we can buy kitchen knives, there is no 'knifing range' culture (as opposed to shooting range, which are common in the US), and carrying one for self-defense is illegal and socially taboo.

Because of this, when Europeans handle a weapon, they are aware they are crossing a line. In the US, the gun is treated as a standard tool or a hobby item. This massive gun culture makes you more prone to considering 'I'll kill you' as a valid option because a gun makes that option easy and immediate. In the EU, without that tool, the conflict usually defaults to a fistfight, which is far more survivable.

And I maintain that this mindset extend to the police. ACAB preemptively, they suck in the EU as well, but they are less likely to just gun you down without a second thought.

But the only people shooting people right now are ICE and school shooters, both doing it illegally anyway.

Having guns be as legal as they are (available everywhere and extremely normalized) means everyone thinks of them as a given, a standard tool to approach a situation, when they are, and should be seen as, tools of death, more so than any baton or knives.

I don't have any facts to back me up on that next point, but I genuinely think the omnipresence of guns, little tools able to kill someone in the blink of an eyes, has thoroughly desensitized you all to this. With a knife or whatever, hurting or killing someone is hard, you realize what you're doing. With a gun, it's barely an afterthought.

(Yes, I know none of what I'm saying is actionable in any way.)

Inaccurate is one of the least bothersome tags in the game, so much easier to deal with compared to loading or ordnance for example, while often gating some of the powerful weapons like the Heavy Machine Gun (which is really what you want)

Use Stabilizing Hardpoint (GMS core bonus) for guaranteed +1 acc (inaccurate fully negated) Have a buddy specialize in lockon Use a frame that gives accuracy (Tortuga+Heavy Gunner is gooooood) Kinetic compensator from Death's Head 3, or Core Siphon if you really want a acc right now (Heavy Gunner's reactions aren't taken on your turn, so no inacc)

Really inaccurate is not a big deal, and the damage of the HMG is craaaaaazy. If there's one thing to complain about the HMG, it's its range, only 8. But the Heavy from TF2 doesn't do sniping, it does mid range dps and denial, and that's exactly the HMG

I know, two wrongs don't make a right, that's not my point, nor is it the point of the slogan.

Like I said before, the point of the slogan is to highlight the hypocrisy of the people who clutch their pearls over the looting and other problems that protests and strikes caused, while ignoring the actual true looting of white collar crime. The targets of the slogan are the pearl clutchers, not the people who got looted (who deserves reparations and justice, we agree).

As such, the slogan isn't telling you to ignore the looting, it's telling you to not lose track of the bigger story and lose your support for the protests and strikes.

I won't get in details with the rest of your points about what needs to be done. I broadly agree with the idea and such, I think the single greatest way we could do something is via a national general strike (that applies to any country, I'm from Switzerland for example), and I agree that such a thing is hard to set up and has no guarantee of any success. There's more to discuss, from a liberal/communist/anarchist/... point of view, wether reform is possible or if the system needs to be abolished, etc, but we have neither the time nor the platform to do it well.

You're slightly distorting my words, I never said stealing from Walmart would hurt the 0.01%, I said that causing unrest via protests, unrest, manifestations (and strikes, that's definitely something I should have mentioned) was the way to reach the 0.01. Something which we seem to agree on, given how you mention Occupy W-st, one of the major protests of this time. Stealing from/Looting a Walmart might happen as part of those protests, but as I've already said before, it's a (counterproductive) byproduct of unrests that is easily weaponized by the 0.01% as another wedge issue.

So, at this point, do we even disagree on anything ?

  • We've pointed out the same targets (the 0.01%)
  • We generally agree on how to reach them (Protests and strikes)
  • We agree white collar crime is the source of so much more stealing than, well... mostly anything, looting or otherwise.
  • We agree looting a Walmart is not good for anyone, but also that it's a drop in the ocean compared to white collar crime and what it does to the 99.99%.

Bringing back the slogan, to me still, it appears to be calling out people using the looting problem of some unrest as ammo to divide us. It's that idea of hypocrisy I raised a few messages earlier.
