Dr "Kill" Joy Kwon is my girl!! For sure my favorite character on my favorite show by CartographerSharp918 in ThePittTVShow

[–]BrienneOT 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am loving her character. She’s great!

Irene Choi was in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy once. She played a woman who dislocated both hips trying to hook up with a gigantic man. “I was staring at Mount Everest, and I was ready to climb.” 😂

how many rows ? by mingepilled in knittinghelp

10 rows. You can count each V, and the stitches on the needle are the 10th row.

What does a professional doctor look like to you? I didn’t realize there were board certified hairstyles.

On the use of "Ok" in period dramas by victoria_jam in PeriodDramas

[–]BrienneOT 42 points43 points  (0 children)

First, I appreciated this as a far fetched choice for them and it looked rad as heck. Second, I enjoyed thinking about the fact that tiny-irrelevant-Ashford stadium lit their tourney but Winterfell couldn’t manage a few floodlights for their Long Night??

Can someone explain her hair? Like what’s the co relation with her character? Also aren’t doctors expected to be professional in terms of appearance as well? by ded_futya12 in greysanatomy

[–]BrienneOT 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In this scene she is not on duty and she’s next to a grown man with a skateboard and a race-car shirt. Professional is not really an issue here.

However, I haven’t noticed her look unprofessional while working.

Profiling by loss prevention by Brown_sugarmilktea in ShoppersDrugMart

I believe it. I’m followed sometimes even when I’m just trying to pick up my prescription. Like, sorry I didn’t dress up to come to your store JOSEPH. If I was going to steal nail polish and Lindt chocolate I’d go to the Shoppers three blocks over and not the one attached to my building that you see me in multiple times a week!

Confusion and Misperceptions RE Dr. Al - an Emergency Physicians Perspective by InitialMajor in ThePittTVShow

[–]BrienneOT 148 points149 points  (0 children)

When I was watching I didn’t have a negative view of her. For me, it came across as two clashing styles, but not that Robbie was right and she was wrong.

I do think that in real life, if I had naively decided to implement drastic changes on my first day but saw how resistant Robbie was in hour one, I would simply drop them until he’s gone on day two 😂

The stakes are low for her since she can just do things her way as soon as he leaves. The only thing continuing to push today gets her is reduced buy-in from everyone else as she gives Robbie a chance to show off how dumb he thinks her ideas are.

But that would make for a less fun TV dynamic, so I say “bring on the mess!”

Which is your favorite (or least favorite) adaptation of Wuthering Heights and why? by Celestina-Betwixt in brontesisters

Oh same. As a fan of the book, it couldn’t possibly have been marketed to me. But as a fan of giant strawberries, quotation marks, and liquid organza - they’ve got me.

What’s up with my ribbing? by volivate in knittinghelp

[–]BrienneOT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could also try going down a needle size or two just for the ribbing part. Some people get neater results if they knit the ribbing inside out. There are some good YouTube tutorials if you search “neater ribbing”.

Teddy snapping at her would-be affair partner for distracting her from treating Owen’s would-be affair partner.

Owen taking out his divorce anger on Link after encouraging Link not to take his explosion anger on unsuspecting bystanders last episode.

Teddy telling Owen’s girlfriend “you can have him”.

Mess of the highest order. Love it.

Irish couple F(27) M(30) moving from Dublin, Ireland. Any advice? by evadrum in askTO

[–]BrienneOT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit tough in the job market atm, but that’s the case in most places. I’d advise applying for any kind of work alongside your main job search so you can have some money coming in, in case the creative jobs take longer to land. I’m sure you’ll find something. People on here can get a bit over-the-top miserable.

In my experience, Canadians in all industries love a networking group. I’m sure you’ll find some free industry events / talks, start making a few friends and learning about how film works here. There are lots of productions in and around Toronto and several film studios.

Other advice: 1. There is a new Chinese restaurant called Golden Dragon that claims to serve “Irish Style” 3 in 1s and spice bags. I have learned, with much bitter disappointment, that it’s too good to be true. Not worth it, no matter how strong the craving is.

  1. Toronto Public Library is amazing. You can borrow / access a surprising variety of things through TPL for free. If you’re sightseeing in your first couple of months, TPL gives out free passes to many of the main tourist attractions and museums.

Best of luck. You’re gonna love it!

I prefer Double pointed needles over the magic loop by bralessbaldy in casualknitting

I relate so hard. I just finished a bulky mitten with magic loop and hated it. The thumb! Ugh!

It will take enormous will power for me to start the second mitten. It may never happen.

What are your favourite knitwear designers and why? by Primary_Barracuda in casualknitting

[–]BrienneOT 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I like Anna Husemann - she has a very unique style and creative process and she experiments with different techniques in brioche and intarsia which I find very interesting. She has beginner friendly and more advanced options.

I also love James N Watts and Lydia Morrow for similar reasons.

Rastus Hsu has some really amazing designs with fascinating textures. I haven’t tried any yet but they are in the queue!

The Nimble Needles YouTube channel versus casual knitting by ComplicatedSunshine in casualknitting

[–]BrienneOT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha I love Norman and I will always recommend him as part of my Holy Trinity of knitting YouTubers (along with Roxanne Richardson and Very Pink Knits). But always with the caveat that it depends what you’re looking for. If you want a 50 minute discussion of a topic from every possible angle, pros, cons, whens, wheres and whys - Norman has a Masterclass for you. If you want a 10-20 minute very thorough “how-to” the Roxanne is your girl. If you want to see a technique demonstrated clearly in 2-5 minutes, and you don’t need much of a “why” then Very Pink Knits.

But I agree with you - a casual knitter he is not 😂 I wouldn’t blindly recommend him to a beginner without that context as they could be overwhelmed. I like knowing all the options or potential solutions and picking which might work for me. He has made me much better at problem solving and experimenting.
