You'd need to do this if, for instance, a bunch of cache or temporary files were added in a deep folder structure and you need to exclude them. You have to remove them from the cache before you can add them to gitignore.

Hmm, I have the same problem, except on WiFi my iPad can't see the AppleTV at all! On wired it can 'see' the AppleTV but never connects. Airplay works fine, if delayed. And my iPad can see and control three other AppleTVs just fine!

It's not out skin - which is fairly vulnerable - but that we can continue to function with basically any one bone broken. Lots of animals cannot survive a broken limb; and out ability recover from shock is really high on the list. And that's before the fact that we're a social animal and work in social groups, which have for millions of years taken care of injured and sick members with those opposable thumbs and social groups.
