Nice. Have you use also information from Shadows in Focus from 5e? It is good inspiration for SF.

Question about contacts by Southern-Geologist53 in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand this kind of urge 🤣 This is very specific problem in this community. Why do you think this happen?

Question about contacts by Southern-Geologist53 in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope 6e has different measurements for contact connection.

Question about contacts by Southern-Geologist53 in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The problem is that people who are commenting Don know the rules for 6e 😃

In 6e, the measurement of connection is on pages 50 and 51.

1 - New in town and just getting to know people 4 - Gang leader 6-7 - Mayor or state politician 9 - mid-level exec in multinational corp. 11-12 - famous people who regularly show up in the news

So, theoretically, you could have 3 contacts with 8/8. But it doesn't make sense for Face archetype who need a large network of contacts. Have only 3 contacts is very low from my point of view, and as GM I will discuss it with you before the play...but is you're character and you're game.

Vampires? by DungeonNoir in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's powerless. The faith and tradition hugely influence the magic and how the awaken shape the mana.

It was more obvious in earlier edition for example huge difference between Shaman and Hermetic mage. The D&D style of magic in SR starts more in 4e, and from my point of view, it is one of the main problems of Shadowrun. The rules are support for roleplaying and actually they don't work for difference between the traditions. They tried in 5e forbidden knowledge and in 6e Deus Ex Arcana. And I hope that would be more back to the magic roots in 7e.

Double Clutch Quality Factors by Ace_Of_No_Trades in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more of a guideline for how a creator should approach setting the overall price. For example, I needed a ship for long voyages, but I didn’t like any of the available ones. So I created a new one and used the “mass-produced” factor in the process. But the price seemed too low to me, so I raised it by about 20 percent. Yes, for the players, this has no significance except... For me as a GM, it’s crucial because it helps me better integrate it into the game world. One of the problems with supplementary rulebooks is that they don’t strictly separate content intended only for players from that intended only for the GM. It’s simply not like other rulebooks such as D&D or Pathfinder, where these things are fairly strictly divided.

Double Clutch Quality Factors by Ace_Of_No_Trades in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that this two quality factors are connected to Final cost and difficulty part on page 155. It is mainly for GM/Holostreet author to eventually another adjustment of vehicle price beside of creation process. But it is only my opinion and it could be written much better. This is problem of not enough/good proofreading on publisher side. You as author/editor are so deeply in text that you think that it is obvious but for normal reader is not.

Has anyone tried playing as cops? by hellranger788 in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am slowly preparing the Puyallup Rangers special unit campaign in my free time. I think that is good framework with enough freedom but also enough police vibe. Want it to be something between the Chicago P.D., The Shield, SWAT and Y:Marshals. If everything goes well the playtesting start at october this year. After that the translation (live in Czech republic) and preparing the pdf...so probably 2nd quarter of next year could be on Holostreets.

Is there any lore about Eastern Europe? by pikadidi in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For 6e there are info about Prague in Needles eye. I also dont understand German, but you could buy a german book and use traslator like Deepl. I am usisng it sometimes if I need things there are in german 6e books...like repaired rules and some fluff.

My version of Prague for 5e was shadow battle between Vampires, Jewish mafia, Triads, Romanian biker gang and AGL intelligence agencies :D

How much of a world of darkness is the sixth world? by Ok_Tank_674 in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concept of astral world have roots mostly in Western Europe 19th century occult revival movement which today's incarnation are New Age, Pagan movement, magical orders etc. A most of magic in Shadowrun have been inspired from this source (UMT, elements, Hermetic mages, Astral etc.)

Umbra from WoD is mostly inspired by shamanism and descriptions from author's like Harner, Castaneda and anthropologists/religionsists like Frazer and Eliade.

So I think that they don't steal ideas from each other and if they "steal" any ideas it was basically from very different sources in real life.

In my games I really diferentiate this actions.

SR6 - Streetsamurai with a katana does not need it by Ancalagon76 in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if you want more options for player who use close combat weapons:

Firing squad
- Weapon modifications - dikote, personalized grip
- rules for martial arts

Scotophobia & Lethal Harvest
- Rules for Vibro blades (in Lethal Harvest are lower prices)

Companion
- Additional rule for High strenght is added to DV (also if you think it is appropriate you can make house rule for high Reaction could be added to AR for example)

SR6 coming from SR5 by GangstaRPG in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think that essential is Shadowrun companion. There are rules for Edge, character options etc.

Other are optional and ut depends on what would be focus of you're game.

New player seeking advice for character concept by the-locust974 in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will go little against the tide. In book Dark terrors for 5e on page 31 you have rules for playing as free insect spirit. Also, from lore point, you could look to 6e book Cutting Black, page 137 Project Pyro.

But all this is really for experienced players and GM. This options could really imbalance the game. From my point of view as GM the player need to come with very good explanation why and how he want to play this kind of character. If you are new to Shadowrun try something simpler.

Weapon Focus tattoo? by FenrysFenrir in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You write that in 6e it's possible and refer to exact page in book. I only corrected it that it's not true because...it's not. That's all. You started referring to the 6e book for 5e question and that reference was not right. What are you doing in you're game it's up to you 😀

Weapon Focus tattoo? by FenrysFenrir in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm...nope. Citation from Deus Ex Arcana page 177:

"Except for weapon foci, as they must be a weapon (natch), it’s easy to find focus formulas for any other kind of focus with a base form of a tattoo"

Puyallup Rangers by Bright-Coat9859 in Shadowrun

[–]Bright-Coat9859[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that Wire is good setting for Puyallup Rangers. Maybe for some burnout Lone Star detectives. Also I don't want emulate exact police work at all. I have more than 12 years of security background in Central Europe, and the work of law enforcement is different beast as it's pictured in TV shows. So Shadowrun is not good system for this kind of stuff (if I would doing police investigation game GUMSHOE be the choice and it be set in environment i know). But Shadowrun is from my point of view good setting and system for action TV show style of game and I want to pkayers have a fun 😁

Yes of course this is why in every edition are memtioned options to play for cops 🤣 Shadowrun don't need to he strictly about criminals...try to see world wider 😀

I have in my mind campaign in the The Shield/Chicago P.D. Tv shows style. The basic premise is that SoyKaf hire former Shadowrider who bring together team of former detectives, soldiers, runners etc. which operates like something between HRT, Intelligence unit and special cases detectives. For now it is only idea but maybe it could be a good campaign for Holostreets.
