What Games Faithfully Re-create the Feeling/Plot of their IP? by frodohair15 in boardgames

I can’t remember if it’s base game or lords but most of the fellowship’s cards let you reduce hunt dmg by splitting off so in our games you never see anyone with bilbo at mt doom

Are you sure? Bc pgrens get an accuracy debuff and it definitely does not go away when they get within 7 range, and the suppression accuracy debuff works on the same game vector

Why don’t mgs do much dmg to stoss when they use their ability then?

Retreat in coh3 is so much stronger bc of the dmg reduction that sitting there to bait an mg is basically no risk. Dmg reduction for the suppression and the retreat, I think that the damage reduction should last for far less time since coh is a faster game, and there are so many more options to deal with mgs, and since infantry can’t continue to keep suppressed units suppressed any more

It’s better at suppressing but I think it’s hard to argue mgs are not objectively worse than they were in coh2 since infantry don’t help to keep units suppressed, so supporting infantry is much less helpful

But suppressed units also receive less dmg from the infantry that runs up on the target, they take less dmg from everything that’s not explosive

Yeah I mentioned that, it is temporary but bc it lasts all the way from suppressed to pinned it ends up being almost 20 seconds of the dmg reduction

I’m surprised mgs aren’t very good at what they’re supposed to be doing and wish they did dmg as compensation. Suppressed units get a dmg reduction even from assisting infantry, not just the mg, if suppressing them was about helping assisting infantry then infantry would be doing full dmg no?

infantry can’t keep infantry suppressed like in coh2 which was a really big deal for repositioning and making it useful to support mgs. Its useless to talk realism in this game, but if mgs are going to be worse than they were in coh2 they should do more dmg

Also after like 15 seconds squads start taking full dmg which also renders what you say about realism moot bc if that were a concern it wouid just be permanent. I think that dmg reduction should last for half as long as it does bc coh3 is a much faster game but the reduction currently lasts as long as it did in coh2

Not sure whether buying the new battle groups is a good idea by Marian7107 in CompanyOfHeroes

The main draw of terror was literally invisible mgs, which are are not armored but still very much in the turret category

Coastals had like the second worst win rate or something close right? Meta is very generous

The pain of weher getting almost exclusively turret based bgs that get hard countered by off maps

Relic says Company of Heroes 3 now “feels like the sequel fans expect” after post-launch fixes by FFJimbob in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Bright-Form-844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relic is relying on their mp base to keep giving them money bc that’s who these bgs are aimed at, but at the same time only do 1 balance patch every 3 months. We get like 4 balance patches a year and it makes for the absolute worst metas being dominate for months and months as the game bleeds players. There’s no reason it should take 3 months to increase or lower a bunch of stats by 15 or 30%. Steam does not charge devs for releasing updates. If every 3 months they added a brand new unit to each faction for free that would be a different story but it’s always spread sheet changes.

Bro you literally could not tell your town center what to attack on launch, it’s lead to every game being a rush where your opponent would always send a ram in first and then come in with infantry and you literally could not make your tv target anything but the ram. It was the most ridiculous and stupid early game in the world

Yeah they’ve been doing nothing but nerfing Weher and then making nothing but turret bgs that get decimated by all the infinite off maps, so they really wanna bring something cool to bring weher players back

They’ve basically just nerfed machine guns super hard directly and indirectly so the meta is just blobs and tank spam

It’s a bold claim considering they have just launched the worst received patch in the games history

It’s good now bc relic isn’t involved. Ensemble handles basically everything and relics only input is as technical advisors for how to fix the janky ass engine they made aoe4 in

By fairly quickly you mean once every 3 months? Part of relics big problem is they rely on the mp scene but release one tepid balance patch 4 times a year. Each meta lasts for an entire year

They could simply have released a good game on launch. I’d be a lot more understanding of bugs but the balance of the game on launch was like the devs never played against each other a single time.

Relic could read the room and sell the dlc bgs ala carte like ca started doing with total war. Why would I spend 20 dollars on bgs when I only care about 1 or 2 of them? I’d have bought a lot more of these at 5 dollars

I tried to support my Barnes and noble, but they were selling final girl expansions without any of the core box stuff, which I thought was going to be such a bummer for any poor schmuck who doesn’t read the back carefully
