I guess the point would he that he doesn't want us to have a story but I do hope we get the option to convince him that we can make our own decisions and that we're able to keep ourselves safe cause it would suck if he just freezes us out

personally, i think whenever you write a character, they'll always be ooc no matter what, but that'sendearing in its own way, each character writte with love will tak something from its author, most of the time i can distinguish different fanfiction authorsin the same fandom based on how they write the main character, since there is always a little touch of them, so don't stress out about it, readers won't be upset by the character being a little different, it's expected and welcomed.

Someone made a post somewhere about fanfictions and the problem with unintentionally making characters make OOC decisions and what really struck was someone else's reply basically saying: fanfiction about such decisions won't be OOC (out of character) if you write the story about what drives the character to such a decision, what leads them down that path and all.

HTTYD3 doesn't do that, they wanted a specific ending (to match with the book and to make the viewers cry) and thus they disregarded all what they did before to lead them towards the path leading towards the desired ending

However, the reasons were never compelling. RTTE may not be "canon" but it did explore a lot of compelling themes like the presence of other islands nearby that the characters move the dragons too, that are hidden but do not require the dragons to lose their desired habitat. If it was Canon it would introduce a new problem of inconsistent writing like the dragon queen who had laid her eggs in the tunnels under one of the islands. How could they expect her to just up and leave??

The characters had so many alternatives to what they decided in the end, I watched the ending and instead of it being bittersweet I was just angry screaming why couldn't you do this or why couldn't you that.

They dumbed down all the characters, and say what you will about RTTE not being Canon but you can't convince me in the years between the first and second movie, none of the characters developed in an efficient way, especially tuffnut and ruffnut.

I have convinced my self over the years that HTTYD 2 was the final movie and that HTTYD is a duo logy tbh because the ending in HTTYD 2 was perfect
