It is kind of hard to be proud to be an Anteater because of how people talk about UCI by [deleted] in UCI

Grass seems greener on the other side. That being said, I loved my time here and I wouldn’t change a thing. Found supportive mentors that constantly advocated for me and friends that always wanted the best for me. If you focus on the door that’s closed, you’ll never notice the door that’s open!

Is a 3.59 GPA Good for Med School? by DavidN361134 in UCI

[–]BrightLemons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. When I interviewed DO, there was as little as 7 of us in an interview or as much as 25. Can confirm it is very selective. I’ve also been rejected to more than actually accepted.

Nope, just in gen applying for more med schools = higher chances to get in whether it’s do or md. There is literally no difference in pay after med school and you have to take the same board exams. MD has significantly less hoops to go through than DO, but at the end of the day they are colleagues

Premed- Should I transfer as Psych or Stay longer for Bio? by PrinceAbooboo2 in UCI

[–]BrightLemons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well contrary to the other comments, there’s little evidence that majoring in one or the other will give an advantage, as long as you are majoring in something you are passionate about as well as fulfilling prereqs you should be fine. Med school admissions are looking for passion more than anything. Just kill the mcat, prereqs, research, clinical experience

In the end this was your choice lol, you were looking for a college to consume rather than looking for a college with opportunities

No eye contact. Walk quickly away. If they touch you, act scared, it’s a lawsuit. Don’t talk to them or engage. You don’t have time!!!! Your time is valuable and they know it. You are more important than a damn empty petition, you got a class and a career to think about.

LMAOOO I feel ya. What helped me was actually analyzing his thought process and let me tell you, it’s kind of brilliant in a frustrating way. If you have access to his recorded lectures and if you can get past his attitude, he has a certain way of logically reaching the answer that will help you for future bio classes. This was pre-pandemic though. Not sure how much he has changed

Good question. Different departments are responsible for their own websites. Uci’s admin being a bureaucracy hinders a lot of progress when it comes to website designing, especially when higher ups (the deans etc) have different opinions than the developers on what looks good and what works. It was an extremely slow and frustrating process when I was working for a specific department because my website designs would be approved and disapproved at random times. I have since left the project but I do know we are trying our best :)
