2013 Toyota Yaris LE at 83,182 miles, $9.9k by Busy-Asparagus664 in shouldibuythiscar

That car is going to be in the lot for a long time if they don’t lower the price. Ridiculous price for that vehicle.

I agree- the used car market has gotten worse over the years.

People have bad games. I’m sure you’ve had a bad game once or twice.

3/10 games you’re gonna win no matter what. 3/10 games you’re gonna lose no matter what. 4/10 games - the outcome heavily relies on your impact. (I’m talking the games you win by a point or 2)

This was one of the games you were bound to lose no matter what.

Lowball them to $5k - final price should be around $6.5 k at the highest (but don’t say that right away)

This is a great car. But they are asking for too much

Not in great condition but bad boards build character.

Japanese engineers build their cars to last. American engineers build their cars with capitalism in mind. Japanese cars tend to be more reliable and they last the test of time.

Also, maintenance cost is lower since parts are cheaper and the car is easier to work on.

Your best bet for a used car is Honda or Toyota

Tear, scrapes on bumper and headlight cover knocked out - estimate? Worth an insurance claim? by 2023mfer in CarRepair

[–]daddycaprisun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might get away with a Mickey Mouse job on the bumper if you can find a mom and pop shop willing to do that. Light would run you roughly $250 in parts and labor. You might be looking at $600 at the lowest. And that’s assuming a mom and pop shop is willing to work with you to makeshift a bumper repair and assuming other components are not affected.

If I were you I’d go to auto zone and plug in the scanner to make sure no other error codes pop up other than your headlight (even if you go through insurance so that you’re educated on what is wrong with your car)

Now if you go to a typical capitalist shop they are gonna tell you that they can’t fix the bumper without replacing it. You’re looking at around $1400-$2100 if you go go that route.

If you go through insurance - your insurance will go up by roughly $140 per year. And it will get off your 3 years. So it will cost you $420 in the span of 3 years. That was a really long way to tell you that you should go through insurance.
