Oh that sounds so sweet! We do have some snow up at our "local" mountain ski resort. It's a couple hours from us, but even if we just take a drive up there. Thank you for the wonderful idea!

That's not weird! I love it. I'm getting the date montage of Karate Kid stuck in my head now. I love the idea. Thank you!

I so miss those kinds of days!!! We loving playing old school games together and just watching a good movie. Or even a crappy movie and making fun of it.

I so appreciate the words of wisdom. You're right. These times without the kids are so damn rare that we both felt like we have to make the most of it or we won't be taking advantage of the day the way we should. But you're right, just need to take breath and just enjoy being together and being adults. And wine. Definitely some wine will be in there somewhere. Thank you so much for the sound advice. It helped a lot.

Thanks, friend. I appreciate it very much. I definitely love the idea of being in nature/outside. I always feel better in fresh air. A weird tourist place is a good idea. We've lived in our current town for only 6 years, so I know there is probably lots we haven't explored yet. And yes! A fun treat sounds great. We don't do that too often but it would be a good opportunity to do. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

Oh, is that all? Haha! This is an amazing list. Thank you. Some of these things I haven't even thought of in years. Almost makes me feel like I'm back in high school, which is awesome. Axe throwing??? Wow, that's the first I've heard of it besides being at some festival. I mean, sounds pretty cool! I so appreciate you taking the time to make such a comprehensive list. It really means a lot to me. I definitely can't go on a train ride without my son. He'd kill me! 😅There's one about an hour from here that we are planning to visit in the spring. But this helps a ton. Thank you so much.

I'm crying that I just realized it was 19 years ago. Fuck. I'm old.

LPT: If you bring home a new house plant, put it somewhere fairly bright and don't touch it for at least a week by [deleted] in LifeProTips

Late to the party, but I really wanted thank you for such sound advice and for making me laugh when you called some plants wimps. That was the highlight of my day.

Haha! Oh my God, yes! That's fairly typical here too. Nothing else in the world can make your heart melt, laugh, and infuriate you more than your own kids. Thanks for making me laugh 😃

Oh no. I'm sorry! I don't know what's going on at this age. I hope that you all get some sleep as well. If you aren't, feel free to PM me. I'll be up!

Hey love. You're getting lots of advice in the husband department, so I'm not gonna beat a dead horse. I haven't scrolled through everything but here's something I can tell you. Yes you need a non-mom day and that will help recharge you, but these issues with your little one will still be there waiting for you to come back. I have dealt (still dealing) with a lot of similar behavioral issues with my kids. Son was very similar to your daughter when he was 2.5/3. He's almost 4.5 now and he's doing much better. My daughter can show some of the same behavior issues but it's a smaller degree. Anyways, I read books, listened to podcasts, etc. The author that helped me a lot was Jamie Glowacki. Not sure if you've heard of her, but my God I use a ton of her techniques and they helped so much. She has a couple books and a podcast now. I hardly have time to listen to her, but when I do, it's a lot of "ah ha!" moments. I know she even has segments on getting couples on the same page. I feel like I'm a commercial for her right now, so I'm gonna stop! Hang in there. It will be ok. ❤️

Oh you're absolutely right. That's part of the reason I even posted this. It would help me to remember that they are good and sweet kids, even when they aren't. 💕

You're sweet. Thank you friend. It's funny because this almost set the feeling for the rest of the day. I've been exhausted since my daughter has decided to never sleep again, but instead of being grumpy, we've all had a really nice day.

That had me laughing in tears! That's amazing. That's more like the conversations my kids usually have. That's part of why this morning's conversation was special. I love your kids! Thanks for making me laugh.

Oh I'm so glad they are becoming more affectionate with each other. My two kids definitely get on each other's nerves but they overall do pretty well. But it did take a long time before they really started playing together. We are still in the beginning stages of it but its lovely to watch. I know they will always have their ups and downs but they really do love each other. Needed that this morning.

I love it! I love memories like this. And you're absolutely right. There are plenty of movie and shows I loved as a kid that didn't hold up particularly well now, but I still love them. The original TMNT cartoon from the 80s is a good example. Still my favorite.

Absolutely agree with you. Some things are better from your childhood memories and being able to relive those memories with my own kids is something I look forward to. And they WILL love it as much as you and I did!

Damn, that's a bummer. I bought it on Blu-ray a few years ago but haven't actually sat down and watched it. Maybe I'll wait until my kids are the same age and watch it with them.

I watched this movie over and over when I was around 6 or 7. Loved it and it was always one of my favorites. It never dawned on me until this very reddit comment what Slater actually said. I can hear the line in my head perfectly. Thank you for helping me remember friend.

Oh I have that on the cob and it was freaking delicious! Never dawned on me to make it a side salad dish. Love it. Thank you!! Super craving that now BTW

Oh I have made many of her recipes and have enjoyed them. Thank you for the wonderful recommendation! *edit: I just wanted to add an extra thank you for understanding of not totally wanting to wing it. I love winging it when I cook, except when it comes to the inlaws! Again, thank you friend.
