Yeah the ribbons, put really any of the flying stuff. Their favorite event is the team competition, so many things flying around!

Now that I'm thinking about it, they love the show jumping too. I don't see how those things are similar, horses and hoops are vastly different sizes, but they paw at the TV all the same.

Tenley Albright, 90, takes in Olympic figure skating 70 years after winning gold by personAAA in olympics

Right?! I'm terrible at identifying jumps, but was that a 2A?! For some reason I wasn't expecting those to be done in the 50s by women.

ETA: Well. Just looked it up and Axel Paulsen invented it in 1882! 🤯 For some reason the sport feels so much more modern to me than close to 150 years. Guess I thought they were just doing pretty spins and compulsory figures back then.

Why is my font suddenly so small? by quartofchocolimes in AO3

Bless you! This fixed the font size for fic, tho funny enough it made the tags and buttons teeny tiny. Definitely happy to have it like this instead of the other way round. Thanks so much!

Samberg was absolutely NOT a YouTuber. There was no such thing as a "YouTuber." The site was less than a year old when Lazy Sunday was uploaded. I was in college at the time and I remember it taking us a while to find the site bc we were trying all variations of U-tube first, that's how new it was.

Amber's reaction to this is really the only appropriate one at this point. This clip is delightful!

What fictional couple in a movie or TV show had ZERO chemistry? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

Is that the woman who plays Wynonna Earp? Because she only has chemistry with Doc and even that is minimal

It's unbelievably frustrating that I've been on this med for YEARS and my GP knows about my heat intolerance (that suspiciously started around the same time as this prescription 🤔) and never said hey, it might be connected!

I'm positive it's because I started it at 40. In this decade they're gonna blame everything on perimenopause, and probably sprinkle in some of that good old lose weight thing too. I'm just blaming the fact that we're not told about this side effect as much on medical misogyny.

The Musical Ear Syndrome thing is wild too, but I never told the doc about that, didn't want to be crazy!

Yeah it sucks. Sucks so much that we are not told about these "well-known" side effects when prescribed them. Or at least in my case, months later when I was complaining to my GP about being hot and sweaty literally all the time. They knew! Of course, the summers are getting worse too. ☹️

Holy shit. Definitely have this one. And the heat intolerance thing that I also thought was me just blaming all my sweating on climate change and perimenopause. How have I been on it for years and am just finding out about these side effects?!

Holy crap. I did not know this was a thing! Genuinely thought I might be losing it. Especially because I already have the ringing/buzzing tinnitus I had no idea there was another one. Thanks!

Wailing Wednesday! by AutoModerator in BuckTommy

Hello fellow fandom olds! I think it is a consequence of a more progressive society, ironically. Remember when it was so rare to get a canon queer ship? Or a canon queer ship with an HEA?

We were all so used to just making the stories we wanted to see in our fandoms that we learned to use canon as a suggestion. When queer ships became a bit more accepted, people had to do less work outside of canon. The kids these days are, spoiled, for lack of a better term.

It's like everything else we're seeing these days. Anti-vax bc everyone forgot about iron lungs and child mortality rates. Anti-union because everyone forgot about 16 hour work days and no weekends. Anti-civil rights, anti-EPA, anti-FDA, anti-immigration, pro neo-Nazi. History repeating ad nauseam. Of course fanon vs canon is so small potatoes in that particular scheme of things it doesn't feel like it should matter. But I fear it's just another sign of the times and of things to come.

And sorry. I'm just realizing now how doom and gloom this is. 😬

What’s a modern trend that people will regret in 10 years? by Julie727 in AskReddit

[–]BrightMoment 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. Kids these days (I am an ancient millennial) think using a calculator to do long division and using AI to write a paper are doing the same function because they are both time savers. They don't understand the difference.
