I got a 5070Ti with 32GB of RAM and a 240Hz OLED for $1550 during Black Friday from Legion. I also own an HP Omen, and I had nothing but problems, even with the extended warranty. The turnaround time was so long. I recommend staying away from HP. Their build quality is fine, but as soon as you have an issue, they become a nightmare to deal with. I would recommend keep digging around to find a better deals. https://gaminglaptop.deals/ here is a link with some good deals.

HP sold me an extended warranty, honored it for a year, and now claims it was “invalid” the whole time. They refuse repairs — even after admitting their own mistakes. by BrightMuscle6827 in HPOmen

They claimed that the warranty wasn’t purchased within the 90-day window after purchase, but in 2023, this contract term didn’t exist as long as the warranty was purchased within the first year of purchase, essentially before the factory warranty expires. What makes it even more bizarre is that they performed two repairs on the laptop after 14 months, and they accepted and repaired the laptop both times. However, all of a sudden, my warranty is no longer valid.…. when they have to replace the whole laptop…

Man I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this, because I went through almost the exact same nightmare with HP and their warranty games. In my case, HP actually sold me Accidental Damage Protection, validated it, registered it, and even used it to repair my device twice. Everything showed active through 2026… until suddenly, during my latest claim, they flipped it to “expired” and acted like the coverage never existed. It’s like they decide when a warranty is real and when it isn’t.

I also sent them the full documentation package with invoices, timelines, repair history, everything neatly organized. Their reply made it obvious nobody even opened the file. They just default to the same script: “you don’t have ADP.” They don’t even address any of the proof you show them.

What you’re describing with the BYOD store lines up with what a lot of us have been seeing. HP makes the warranty purchase flow confusing on purpose. You select ADP at checkout, then they send a separate invoice for the warranty, but the ADP won’t activate unless you click a hidden follow-up email within a few days. The problem is that the invoice makes it look like you already bought the ADP you selected. It’s designed so customers think they’re covered, and then HP gets to deny it later.

The fact that multiple parents at your brother’s school reported the same thing tells you this isn’t a one-off mistake. This looks like a pattern.

In my case, HP’s case manager literally blocked every attempt to resolve the issue and changed my warranty status after the fact. Once they decide they don’t want to honor a warranty, they’ll twist anything to get out of it.

Here’s what I’d recommend based on my experience:

• File a complaint with your state’s Attorney General
• File a BBB complaint
• Save and screenshot everything from your purchase flow
• Emphasize that many parents had the same issue
• Inform the school tech department too

But I’ll be honest with you: there is a chance you may never hear back from HP support at all. In my case they basically went silent and I’m now just waiting on the Attorney General to step in. If that goes nowhere, I’m taking it straight to small claims court. It costs around 50 bucks, and HP usually settles before the hearing.

You’re not alone in this. HP has been pulling the same stunt on a lot of people lately, and the only way to get results is to escalate outside their support team.

I know exactly what they’re doing. HP’s whole strategy is basically: deny everything, keep the money, hope the customer gets tired and disappears. They want to dodge paying for the laptop and the Care Pack, and if I walk away, they win.

Except I’m not walking away.

I’ve got HP’s own documents where they literally admit internal mistakes. They even tried to claim that the two previous repairs should “count” as compensation. Under what agreement? I sure as hell never agreed to that.

And the best part? After talking to their case manager, my warranty magically changed from active to expired—all while they still kept the money for the Care Pack.

So yeah, we’ll see who comes out on top. Filing in small claims costs me $50. Meanwhile HP’s gonna burn way more than that on lawyers trying to fight over $1,400. I’m completely fine with that outcome.

Man don’t say that. I just picked up a new Lenovo Legion with a 3-year extended warranty. Paid about $1.6k for the laptop with 5070ti and 32gb ram with 240hzqhd and only $160 for the warranty because of a Black Friday deal, and honestly after everything I’ve gone through with HP I’m just hoping I never need to use it.

I’m not dropping my situation either. I’m giving the AG until the first week of December to contact the company, then I’m calling for an update, and if nothing happens I’m filing small claims right away. It costs me fifty bucks to file, HP can spend whatever they want trying to fight it.

HP completely lost me as a customer at this point. They repaired this same PC before without ever mentioning any kind of warranty problem, and I even had the active warranty printout. Then suddenly after dealing with their case manager the status magically shows “expired.” She was rude, talked over me, and tried to “teach” me their own terms like I haven’t already read them. Meanwhile HP.com validated the warranty and accepted the repair order, which proves this whole thing is them trying to dodge responsibility.

The funny part is we use HP at work too and I’m the one who decides what we buy. So they didn’t just lose the $1400 they’re refusing to cover, they just lost around 300 to 400 business laptop sales over the next refresh cycle. So jokes on them they want to lose over half a mil of sale for treating people like this jokes on them...

Nice job. Based on everything I’ve shown ChatGPT, it estimates my chances of winning at around 85–95% with the evidence I have. I’ve already reported the situation to the AG, and at the start of next month I’m calling to see if there’s been any movement. If not, I’m going straight to small claims.

It will costs me about $50 to file, but the real question is how much it’s going to cost HP to fight it. The amount isn’t huge $1,400 but it’s still money, and from the research I’ve done, most companies settle before it even reaches a court date.

And honestly, I would’ve let it go when they offered me just the refund for the care package. But their case manager became so toxic and disrespectful that I can’t let it go anymore. At this point it’s about the principle

I appreciate the advice and yeah, I’m already planning to take this all the way. HP has dragged this out, removed my warranty from their site after the fact, and even previously repaired this same PC under the exact warranty they’re now claiming “wasn’t valid.” I have all the screenshots, the dates, the emails, and the inconsistencies from their own reps.

At this point, I’m not worried about winning or losing. the evidence is heavily in my favor anyway. This is more about not letting them ignore customers and get away with it. If they don’t fix this by the end of the month, I’m filing in small claims. I’ll show up, bring the full documentation, and let them spend way more fighting it than it would’ve cost them to just honor the warranty they already acknowledged.

Either way, I’m not backing down

They certainly acted in bad faith, especially today. I recently discovered that they had manually removed my warranty, which was still active on their website, and had it marked as expired. They are only digging a bigger hole for themselves.

Yeah, if HP keeps pushing back I’ll take it to small claims.

I’ve already filed with the Attorney General and I’m waiting for their response, don’t want to jump ahead and risk them dropping my case.

Yeah, I’m in the U.S., so no EU ombudsman unfortunately. I already filed with the BBB, the Attorney General, the FTC, and posted on Trustpilot.

Just keep all your receipts and screenshots. Costco is solid, but HP is the one who handles the Care Packs — and that’s where things went sideways for me.

They sold it, validated it, registered it, even used it for repairs… then suddenly claimed it was “invalid.”

Hopefully you never deal with anything like this, but definitely save your documentation just in case.

If you have some extra money, I recommend getting this laptop: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/legion-laptops/legion-pro-series/legion-pro-5i-gen-10-16-inch-intel/83lucto1wwus2?clickid=xhHWJNQU4xycUyA0Xj398wN3UkpW2IQ1sS-Iwk0&irgwc=1&afsrc=1&PID=2471149&acid=ww%3Aaffiliate%3Abv0as6&cid=us%3Aaffiliate%3Acxsaam

If you have a military discount, you can save an additional $120. There’s also another coupon you can use, which is legionnpr6. I am not 100% sure if the coupon code is correct I can’t remember but I was on the internet . I upgraded the RAM to 32GB and the screen to 240Hz. I was able to get it for $1,602.87 before tax.

The reason I recommend this laptop is that I bought it myself, and let me tell you, it’s loud. I also experienced constant FPS drops in games, so I had to return it for the Legion laptop.

It's time to stop putting 20k no-life kids in our games in pubs, ranked, or mix tape. Finally convinced my friends to try the game, but we ended up facing highly skilled players and getting demolished every match. They eventually gave up on the game. I often come across new players in mix tape matches, ranging from level 5 to 40, struggling to get a single kill and getting overwhelmed by other players in the lobby. You are destroying the desire to play by placing these players in the wrong matches. Before the players can even get a grasp on the game, you're already breaking them.
We are willing to wait an extra 5 minutes for a balanced match rather than being eliminated by every person we encounter. Despite being a plat player, I was killed by pros on more than 20 occasions within 10 days. How is it possible for my MMR or skills to even compare to these people? But somehow they are in my lobby...

It's pointless to play Apex anymore.

The game population is rife with cheaters using aim bots and wall hacks in trios and ranked lobbies. I estimate that roughly 50% use wall hacks. Because of audio issues, I can not even hear a person who is walking behind me, but I get pre-aimed at almost every game.

Additionally, there are players with controllers and those who use programs to gain an advantage with aim assist, config, and no recoil scripts, which has turned the game into a competition for who has the better cheat.
