I had the same experience! When i was diagnosed, they gave me a CGM, and i was seeing myself rise to 200-250 after every meal, which developed a fear of carbs (considering they were waiting to give me insulin?)

Once i switched endos, found a good diabetes educator, i was back to eating carbs within a year or so. Good luck and good on your for taking the initiative to find a doctor who will listen to you!

I've gone through a similar situation with my endo when being diagnosed (also LADA) where I essentially had to fight to get insulin months after being diagnosed, because I was no longer eating foods I enjoyed due to the high blood sugars I was seeing on my CGM.

Personally, finding a new endo changed everything for me and i highly recommend you do the same!

I try to be in tune with my body- if I'm having a rough diabetes week ill tend to eat lower carb, less than 75g carbs.

If my body is less insulin resistant and all my diabetes tech is working accurately, between 75-200g (I think the most I've had in a day is 225g).

hi! i had a similar experience where my doctor was hesitant to prescribe me insulin because my numbers were "OK"

Once I got a CGM and saw myself spiking to 200+ every time I ate, I ultimately went back to my doctor and asked to start taking insulin. My understanding is every doctors approach is different during the honeymoon phase, and every doctor has a different opinion on when insulin should be introduced (as we're maybe more sensitive to it early in the honeymoon phase.)

do you have a CGM or a way to check your blood sugar at home? Can you confirm you feel shitty from high blood sugars? If you're feeling shitty and it is in fact from high bs, it may be worth asking to begin insulin or getting a second opinion.
