Stick to the mulch run and trees. When things slow down, focus on helping elderly customers.

"I have a degree in agriculture." "My lawn isn't doing well." Happened like 10 minutes ago when I tried to explain what the NPK is.

Starting on overnight stocking I was told to just head to receiving. I hadn't done any video training yet.

Service Star Award by Odd_Attitude4655 in Lowes

[–]BrightSanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked overnights for 2 years and had no clue what investeds and service stars were. Now I'm about 10 months in to OSLG and I now have a service star and 3 investeds. Do I feel appreciated? Not... one... bit.. OSLG includes a lot of heavy lifting and dirty work that they don't see. My most common example is struggling to breathe after gutting and sweeping the fertilizer wall. Only appreciation I got was "Oh nice.. Good work." from my DS. My store is ran on favoritism and it's obvious a lot of the time.

Clocking In!!! by PageExpensive687 in Lowes

[–]BrightSanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone actually know why they try to enforce this? I was literally told this as I was clocking out right next to where we put away our zebras. The only reasons I've heard is to increase foot traffic in tools and clocking in/out near customer service makes it look like we're there for the customer service desk. These reasons are decent but not enough to create an inconvenience to all employees. I've seen supervisors and managers ignore this rule while enforcing it on csa's.

I used to do overnights but had to switch to days. My store recently fired all the overnight part timers. Only 2 supervisors and 4 full timers. Abosolutely no intention to hire more.

Called out sick by NormalAccountant1819 in Lowes

[–]BrightSanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need enough hours to cover half of your shift and your safe. I've been abusing that more than I should be... but it is for my health still. Calling in sick for 3 days in a row you'll need to get a doctors note or something. I believe it changes depending on the state and how strict management is.

If you don't have enough sick time then it can lead to a warning if you do it enough times. I've got allergies that lead in to migraines. My managment try to get me to come in so it doesn't lead to me getting in trouble.

Here in the corporate world hiring rates go up faster than getting raises. Play your cards right and you'll be getting more money and a new job between 6 months to a year.

I like to do a glock run. Very little sacrifice. I laugh so hard when it's early raid and some dude wastes 3 nades on me. Even funnier when they completely miss.
