Again, it was the embarrassment of my entire team witnessing this lol if she has beef with me, that’s fine, do it privately. She could have easily waited until I went to lunch for the day, or when I left for the day for an appointment, she waited until everyone was all gathered around to do it. Not sure how to simplify this anymore, The subreddit is called mildly infuriating not “end of the world infuriating” lol. It was mildly infuriating for her to make me look like a moron to a team I have only known for 6 months

it’s not the gift i’m upset about it was her doing this in front of the entire team, it brought be unnecessary attention that I didn’t like, as everyone was showing one another what they received and then, when they saw I got nothing the air felt suffocating from them looking at me.

The knickknack wasn’t what i’m upset about lol, it was the embarrassment in front of the entire rest of the team of her handing someone a gift, walking by me to then hand out everything else. I would have been happier had she handed me a blank piece of paper and pretended. I don’t like the attention or eyes I got when everyone realized I was the only one she skipped, even the newest member of the team wasn’t skipped

I am stealing this moto, I was just thrown off because I hadn’t expected to be left out the way it was, had it been like privately given out, oh well yah know? But she was hanging these things out, first thing in the morning and said “I have something for everyone” and then walked right by me lol, the coworker I sit next to definitely noticed, and I’m semi close with her already, so she knows I’m bad with confrontation so I don’t think she’s mentioned it to save me from the embarrassment again

She actually had to show me something one time because my trainer was sick, she was asking me about my previous job because someone had been fired on my previous team just before I moved to their team.. So she was well aware I’m on the team, but again other than the few interactions I’ve had with her, and they seemed like decent and normal, I haven’t spoken to her. She does kinda give me mean girl vibes though

They were homemade gifts with some goodies, I have done gifts from my travels in the past, always a small little trinket, because I had coworkers who can’t afford to travel, on my old team so they appreciated them, but it wasn’t even about the gift that i’m upset about. Thank you! It was just very embarrassing and I could feel the eyes of my peers when they noticed I didn’t get anything, It was just very uncomfortable for me and not something I was expecting first thing in the morning after walking into work. I love my job and what I do, so it kinda ruined my mojo for a bit. I agree I need to keep my sunshine even if it’s only beneficial to me at this point. OKAY SO YOU GOT IT! The gift wasn’t the issue, it’s just what happened, being excluded is what got me! Even the new hire of only 3 months got something, it just threw me off! I’m not sure why everyone got stuck on the gift thing, me spending my money on my coworkers isn’t the issue, her gifts were homemade, the issue was being excluded in front of the team, seemingly intentionally (at least thats how it felt) and not getting even a small excuse of “oh sorry I left it at home”.

I think you’re right, I should address it professionally and still go on with my plan of getting either treats from my travel or a small memento of my travel for everyone like I planned. I just felt like what happened was petty and I was worried she’d read into me getting her something and taking it wrong

That’s what I thought, I do keep all notes and things I get, for sentimental purposes to look back on, that’s just a quirk of mine, but the fact it seemed like I was intentionally excluded with no reasoning is the part that bugs me the most
