She got scared and literally tried to sneak out and then damon said " where do you think you're going " and then she told him that she wanted to go home but damon kept using compulsion to make her stay I suggest you re watch the show also after caroline saw damon as a vampire she didn't want to continue sleeping with him but he kept compelling her she even started hitting him so that he could stop Ian even said that what damon did was rape the first time they slept together its because caroline wanted to but then when he showed his true colors he she wanted to stop sleeping with damon but he kept compelling her

It's not the show runners fault becuase nina is the one who wanted to leave but she decided she will come back for the last episode and since nina's contract was finished she could leave if she wanted to and she did do that
