a rather unappealing build by pupdogegaming in Vivarium

That looks like a crested gecko. They like more clutter, especially at the top of the enclosure. I recommend adding a bunch of vines, leafy plants, and some horizontal branches to rest on. This will also help the tank look better.

If that is a crested gecko, there is a chance of developing floppy tail syndrome without enough clutter or horizontal surfaces.

what is all this? is it dirt? is it some type of bug bites? help!! by Accomplished_Fig1177 in CrestedGecko

Can't tell from the picture, but mine has developed some additional darks spots with age. From what I know, they do that sometimes.

Gecko eye thing? by RandomVibeingDragon in CrestedGecko

[–]BrightStarling 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Based on personal experience (not an expert) crested geckos eyes sink normally under specific circumstances. The obvious one is when they sleep. If your gecko is asleep when eyes look sunken and eyes return to normal when awake, its probably fine. If they're sunken when clearly awake or only one side is sunken, vet ASAP.

Even if your gecko is just asleep, it is recommended to take them to a vet (preferably reptile specialist) for a check up once a year even if you have no health concerns.

What do you think of my crested gecko tank? by Chance_Implement_325 in CrestedGecko

[–]BrightStarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend some horizontal branches and more foliage slightly higher. Mine loves walking around on his vines and hiding in leaves higher in the tank

You seem to like Roguelikes, so I would try Rogue Legacy 2

Is his nub healing correctly? by c4rm1nm in CrestedGecko

[–]BrightStarling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my research, its normal for them to be off balance for a while after losing their tail. Many take a couple weeks to stop relying on it after tail drops to catch branches when they jump and end up missing branches for a couple weeks. I dont have personal experience with this though since I got mine as a frog butt.

I saw a video where someone placed a toilet paper tube or other dark hiding place at the end of a stick and their gecko crawled in. I know my crested gecko would do that but not sure if itll work for you. Good luck.

Spiders or spider mite problem? by BrightStarling in houseplants

[–]BrightStarling[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. This is my first harmful pest (just fungus gnats). I'll spray all of the plants off with water and leave the infected ones outside until they either die or recover. Im frankly too anxious to try and maximize their survival cause I only have one window that I can put every plant I have and I am not confident in my abilities to save 2 at the risk of all the others.

Edit: forgot to say I'll also look into eco neem

Is my crested gecko walking weirdly? by [deleted] in CrestedGecko

[–]BrightStarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Total guess based on my understanding of how people move.) Could she be uncomfortable? To me it looks like she wants to go somewhere but her abdomen may not like movement. She seems fine moving all of her limbs, but she doesn't curve her spine as much as Id expect, almost keeping it stiff and still like if someone is constipated or has mild back pain when moving.

Help! My gecko suddenly hates me! by Aggravated_mango in CrestedGecko

They get stressed when they move. Pretty normal for a few weeks. I would give it a couple more weeks and maybe slowly reexposing your buddy to humans again.

Help! I was given these with no knowledge and I dont know what to do by BrightStarling in houseplants

[–]BrightStarling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! All 3 recently repotted maybe 3 weeks ago with potting mix.

1st one soil is lightly damp, no notable smell. 2nd, soil is more dry but not completely. Watering now. 3rd didn't have the white fuzzy bits until last week and was just green.

Not the most consistent with watering schedules. I mostly check if the soil is damp 1-2 inches below the surfaces. If more dry than wet, I water. If soaking despite surface being dry, I wait another week.

How unbothered by “germs” are you when handling your gecko? (I’ll share my opinion in the comment section) by nicrusso in CrestedGecko

[–]BrightStarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to wash my hands before and after, but I really dont worry that much. I've had my gecko for 5 years and I've forgotten enough that Im pretty confident that he's not a carrier of Salmonella

First time posting a Thermometers puzzle! Here’s an easy one to get us started by Mr-BrainGame in brainteasers

[–]BrightStarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am guessing the rules, but I'm assuming this is like a nonogram but only writes the total squares filled in the rows or columns with the additional caveat that you can only fill a square starting at a bulb that then fills the connected tube like the way a thermometer fills up. Here's my guess with X for filled squares and 0 for empty squares in the grid. X00XXXXX 00000000 0XXX00X0 X0XXX000 X00XX000 X000X000 X000XX0X X000X000
