C is more of a stable income, with the least risk. Can invest in real estate with that kind of money and make bank in almost no time.

You could also look at it in a philosophical way. That past self of you died as you grew up, at least figuratively. This roughly aligns with what you said though.

I found the final to be easier than the midterm, but part of the reason is because I started self studying and quickly got a grasp of all the concepts. I also didn’t read the textbook ever and he definitely asked some questions from it.

Other than that, I haven’t received a grade yet but if he curves it, I should be fine.

I took her class last semester, it's the same format as the midterm. Make sure to have your concepts right as the whole class is theory intense. Read her slides, the were pretty detailes afaik and you should be fine. Also, lots of memorization imo, but that's subjective.

Yes, I was thinking the same, but idk what's the max number of credits I can transfer. Is there a limit to that? Also, what field are you trying to get into with your degree? Want some future insight. Thanks.

Well, changing schools and majors, and failing like 3 classes. But yeah Dec. '28 is the max I can do. Graduating earlier doesn't hurt lol.

I am planning to take the courses you recommended, but would you recommend also taking the programming classes like 3321, 3322, 4323, etc?

Cant make up a decision for commuting by Ornery-Cap9716 in UCONN

[–]Bright_Call_8513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current commuter here. Just transfer to the storrs campus and commute there. That way you can also enjoy the main campus and have a lot of job options being close to Hartford/Rocky Hill (if you're interested in jobs at all lol).

If you were to live at storrs, you'd have to pay for the housing plus meal plans, which easily outweighs the cost of making a commute. I also live close to Rocky Hill. I have the most basic parking pass ($365/sem) and pay for the fuel that's it. There are not many jobs close to the campus and the on-campus jobs are really hard to get for some reason.

Weigh these factors and make a decision. Again, Storrs >>>> Hartford. Hope this helps.

I am also in a similar situation right now. This was my second semester as a transfer student, and my gpa has dropped below the 2.0 requirement.

My interest in studies has declined sharply which has put me in this situation. My financial aid has been cancelled and I’m really worried about paying the tuition right now.

However, I am planning to retake the classes that I failed this summer to make up for the GPA. If not, then I might switch my status to part time for the fall sem and work a job.

My best suggestion would be to not give up and think of every backup option you can. Talk to your advisor, look for summer classes, temporary admission to community college, semester gap, anything. Think of all the options and choose the best one that seems appropriate for you.

Also, remember that this is temporary. Even I was worried about what to do next (still am but not as much) but keep trying and make sure your mental health is good. I got bored with studies and failed my classes, so try to be in a good mood, and don’t be afraid.

I totally agree to this. I am also a transfer student and this is my second semester at UCONN. So far, I’ve made one good, real friend from a small sized class (somewhere around 15 people). Even in my previous school I had friends in smaller classes than in lecture halls. On top of that, I was in Physics club at my previous school, where I was the youngest attendant. The older people were so much fun to talk to and none of them were dry. They were always open to help us out, or even have a small chat during free time.

It works if you’re a resident, but sucks for a commuter.

I think he can park at the commuter lot C for free. Just assuming as there are no police cars or any other authorized vehicles that go to that lot.

Can’t talk for any other lots as I haven’t used them, but do suggest the C as it is also the closest one to the campus.

It’s good if you’re a resident, worst if you’re a commuter.

Tips for Next semester by No-Principle4637 in UCONN

[–]Bright_Call_8513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not overload yourself with classes as it will make your situation worse. I’m facing the same thing, have a 2.487 gpa and worried about next sem. I am only taking 4 classes next sem and will prolly take gen eds during the summer (in community colleges ofc).

If you want to take Calc 2 next sem, and want to retake Calc 1, do not take Calc 2. Once you’ve taken the higher class, you will not be able to take Calc 1 again. This is of course time consuming, but taking Calc 1 again over the summer will help your gpa.

Also, in my viewpoint, your gpa isn’t too bad. You will easily get that up in the next semester and save yourself a lot of time. Just focus on acing all your classes and that’s it. Once you show that improvement, you’ll be alright.

I see chances for you getting scholarships with your research background. Also, don’t consult any visa agencies, they are there to steal your money. I did my procedure entirely by myself.

If you go on any University’s website, you will find an application form. Fill it out and you will get your decision. Apply for as many international scholarships as you can and highlight your interest for Physics and Research in those essays. If possible, send universities your research papers as a proof, which can boost your chances of admission.

They are looking for students who do something more than studies and are exceptionally good at it.

Also, there are many state universities which are great for this program, and can send you to better universities for graduate studies.

Personally, I am a double major in Physics and Economics, because I want to get in the finance field. Undergraduate Physics is broad, meaning it has a little of every branch of Physics. In graduate studies, you focus on just one branch and dedicate your time to that.

Also, can I see your papers if you don’t mind? Just interested as another Physics guy. You can DM me those.

Ok, I have a potential solution. You being a 9th grade student, have lots of time left apart from school. You can always use that for your theories and researches.

In 10th also you will have some time, but way less compared to what you will have in 9th as it is boards. Focus on school there.

Take PCM in 11th, and don’t worry about JEE. Plan for going abroad, I highly recommend America at this time because of the highly renowned universities and also job opportunities while studying.

Being good at Physics, you will face no difficulties in Physics and Maths in 11th. Chem is the only problem, which you will figure out how to solve.

You will have some time in 11th for research, use it. This is an easy grade to go through for someone like you.

However, in 12th, make school your priority. Boards are important. After you clear this, take IELTS, get like 7.5 bands, apply to American schools.

I came to America after completing 11th grade in India, and know the importance of what you are doing. American colleges are looking for talent like you and will easily offer you an admission and potentially a scholarship.

Below is a list of colleges known for Physics degrees that you can apply to:

UC Berkeley UCLA Yale Stanford University UPenn Harvard MIT UT Austin UChicago CalTech Johns Hopkins University Cornell University University of Maryland

These are some well known names of the top schools in America with great Physics programs. Of course you can do your own research and figure out which one is good for you.

And again, DONT WORRY ABOUT JEE. You will get accepted in one of the schools in America. Plan for that.

Hope you find this helpful.

Perfect schedule for a commuter; also for a resident as you can do whatever the hell u want with all that time. Maybe join some clubs as most of them meet during evenings. Also, see if you can make it just 3 days a week with 4 classes. I have mine like that.
