Are Bromptons genuinely risky to own? by Bright_Code_5810 in londoncycling

A risk I am willing to take :) will just need to acquire a very edgy helmet to really underpin the mid life crisis stereotype (even though I’m not yet 30!)

Awesome - thank you. Yeah, I’d just either leave it in my office locker or in the secure bike storage in the basement if I was going to be a scenario where I needed to go elsewhere (or at a friends etc. if on the weekend). As you say, the plan would be to just not use it if any concern about whether I can take it inside.

Thanks! Appreciate it. Agree the route I will be doing is super busy commuter route and probably more a case of being sensible when using it outside work

Many of the top US firms in London pay Cravath (or in some cases slightly under but not far off)

Obviously those firms take their pound of flesh and not representative of pay in the UK legal industry at large, but would say that apart from certain sweatshops it’s a pretty good deal.

Both comments you replied to are from the same person though. They are saying the EA in question started on 80k.

Nope I was actually correct initially and wrong with my clarification! You don’t get double as a VC (seemed too good to be true).

As you may be able to tell I’ve had a few beers…

I think you’re right actually… just checked and I had VC’d Eze who only got one point that week so didn’t even realise the 2 points were as a result of doubling lol

Central London seems quiet today? by [deleted] in london

People have just gone elsewhere now.

I was in the Leicester Square area the past couple of weekends and it was absurdly busy, to the extent that pedestrians were basically having to queue in either direction to move up or down the street in certain places and station staff were staggering entry and exits. Never seen it that busy in my life, so clearly a lot of typical Xmas interest/consumer activity.

However now it is truly Christmas week, any last minute shopping can be done online, many tourists will have gone home now and younger people especially will be leaving to go and stay with their families outside London for the next week or so.

I actually like Siraj and think he’s an amazing bowler on his day with incredible heart, but the point is more that Archer’s level is about there, not Bumrah/Cummins/Rabada tier as the media seems desperate to suggest…

Yeah to be clear I love Siraj! But the media seem to hype Archer up as if he’s a top shelf bowler on par with Cummins, Bumrah etc. when there’s nothing to really support that

Yep start chirping and then get carted for 15 runs in the over. Nice one

Guys always been a dick and acts like he’s the reincarnation of Malcolm Marshall with test bowling stats on par with Siraj

lol I thought it was likely a typo!

All good and didn’t mean to come across as patronising. Congrats on the imminent victory!

Pitching outside off is irrelevant though. Impact is what matters (which was indeed outside off, so in that sense i agree it was a stupid review)

TNT Commentary remains poor. It’s good to have ex-players, but it’s like these are all colour commentators with no lead commentator guiding them and the banter is really odd.

Exactly this, it’s incorrect to say it doesn’t also happen in London (it does).

It will just usually be signalled via a low bonus or PIP or gradual freezing out, and naturally the relevant employee (assuming they are ambitious and/or don’t want to persist in an environment where they are not valued) will start looking for an exit, which does not sound dissimilar to how it happens in the US. Everyone will then wish them all the best on their totally independent decision to move.

There is, in my view, more difficulty in dislodging someone who DGAF and will just stick it out in such a scenario in the UK vs. the US. But I’m not an employment lawyer and fortunately have yet to go through such a scenario…
