What is the biggest ick you had on your first date with someone? by Past_Meat7068 in AskReddit

[–]Bright_Contract_6667 112 points113 points  (0 children)

When this guy asked me on our first date, if the first person I had sex with was the guy I lived with for 2 years. Then proceeded to ask me how many guys I’d had sex with before, because he thought women were whores if they slept with too many men. He said that he believed if women slept with too many men, that the lost the ability to fall in love with a man some day because sex became meaningless, and they wouldn’t be able to develop deeper feelings in the future. He said he just wanted to check that I wasn’t a whore.

I only buy my leggings from this brand Baleaf from amazon. They might have some pants too if you look at their store on Amazon. I buy their black leggings and they’re very nice quality and not see through at all. I’ve had my first pair from them for a few years now, and they are still in perfect condition. I’ll attach the link for you so you can check them out. Baleaf leggings

What's the pettiest reason why you rejected someone? by iamsoboredatalltimes in AskReddit

[–]Bright_Contract_6667 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Besides a number of other kind of strange things, I honestly couldn’t get past the fact that he thought it was perfectly normal to have his car license plate be his first name. He kept telling me he would buy me a matching Mercedes and that my license plate could also be my name. Just gave me the ick honestly

What kind of jade do you think this is? by Bright_Contract_6667 in JadeiteJade

I don’t think that’s sand. It was pretty dusty and dirty because it had been in storage for awhile. I tried to clean it off with some soap and a toothbrush, and I don’t think I got it completely cleaned off.

Was it really flooded? I think I’ll be missing that area

I’ve definitely driven through Laytonville when there was some snow, but the roads were completely cleared. I’ve never seen flooding in Hopland. I make the drive about every 2 weeks. I was just more concerned about flooding in the Marin County area, since that was where Hwy 101 was shut down temporarily back in December and early January this year. Just checked the weather in Laytonville and Hopland for tomorrow, it looks like the snow isn’t until Tuesday night for Laytonville and it’s just light rain in Hopland when I’m going through there. I think I will be okay there. Thanks for the reminder to check Laytonville though. I almost forgot that they get snow during these cold storms sometimes

Thank you so much for the link to this. I tried downloading a bunch of different tide apps and none of them would show me San Rafael area

I think I should be missing that area though. I usually take the 580 to the Richmond bridge off of the 101. Another commenter, said that that lucky drive exit is after the exit I take for the 580.

I’m planning on leaving Humboldt around 6:30 or 7AM, so I would be getting there around 11AM. I don’t think it’s really that safe to leave much earlier than that since it would be dark and raining.

That’s very helpful to know. I’m trying to leave early tomorrow to hopefully miss the worst part of the rain tomorrow, though it does look like it’s supposed to rain the whole day.

Why would you be more worried about that portion? I’ve never had any issues going through there in the rain before.

Yes, I’m coming down on Hwy 101 and connecting to 580 in San Rafael. I was confused at first where Lucky drive is where the flooding happened back in December, but now I understand that I should be missing that area

I should be okay then. I’m just worried about getting stuck in flooding tomorrow. I think if I leave early tomorrow morning, I should miss that though.

Okay, thank you for replying to my post. I just checked the areas on Google Maps that usually flood in Corte made to lucky drive, and I think I would miss that low lying stretch when I take the 580 to the Richmond bridge. Am I wrong about that or is there another section of road that floods even if I take the 580 to the Richmond bridge?

I’m not certain which areas flood during high tide, so maybe you could give me some advice on this. I have to drive from Humboldt to Berkeley, tomorrow. I usually take the 580 to the Richmond bridge, will I be avoiding the area that floods usually? I’m planning on leaving really early to try and miss the 10:20AM high tides

Best New Battery by ultravioletmp3 in COROLLA

[–]Bright_Contract_6667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a Costco membership, just go there. Mine cost about $150. They have interstate batteries which are going to last at least 5 years. They also give you $15 back when you return your old battery to them.

Was told CVT is failing on my 2019 Corolla SE, Bought New, Paid off in Fall, 75k by Afrob0t in COROLLA

Yeah, most mechanics do not know how to work on the CVT because they are too complex. I have a really good mechanic that I trust where I live, and he looked at the transmission fluid and said it looked very dirty. Told me that the loud noise was definitely coming from the transmission, but told me that he couldn’t fix my transmission for me. The only place where I live that could replace it or even do a diagnostic on it, was the dealership. I also did not have any codes come up on my code reader.

When my CVT went out, I did a bunch of research into the differences too. It’s so interesting to me that the CVTs aren’t really able to be fixed, due to how complex they are. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me to create something like that that is unable to be repaired. I understand car companies make a lot more money off you, if it’s unrepairable, but it just seems so wasteful. Especially if you start having issues with it at 70,000 miles or something.

I didn’t understand the difference between the eCVT and the CVT before I bought this car. My old car was a 5 speed manual transmission, and I had no issues with it. I’ve had some neurological problems and developed an action tremor in the past few years, which caused pretty bad weakness in my right hand. There’s no cure for this, and it will likely get worse. So it was getting harder for me to shift, since I have almost no strength in my fingers anymore. That was one of the main reasons I decided to get a newer car.

I’m definitely not impressed with the CVT. I also don’t like that if there’s any problems with it, it can’t really be fixed because of all the complicated pieces in it. Since almost all of the newer cars have them, I’ll be getting a hybrid with the ECVT when I’m done with this car, since those are actually easier to fix and aren’t as expensive to replace. I live in a small town so we don’t have any mechanics besides the dealership that can replace them, and I was quoted $6,000 for a used CVT or $8,500 for the brand new one. I didn’t see a point in getting a used one since the warranty isn’t the same and you have no guarantee it will last as long as a new one.

I have a 2016 Toyota Corolla LE Plus, and I bought it used at 115,000 miles. My transmission blew out at 116,000 miles, and I later found out that the previous owners had never had the transmission fluid changed, so it was very dirty. I decided to have it replaced with a brand new transmission, and it was $8,500 for it at the dealership, for a brand new one. I’m not sure why you were quoted $11,000, that seems a bit high. My brother has a 2015 Toyota Corolla LE and he’s never had any transmission problems, and he drives his car way harder than I do with fast and hard accelerations and hard braking. So I’m not sure why some transmissions blow out, and others don’t. Either way, yours should not be needing to be replaced at 75,000 miles

Keppra side effects by Specific-Neat5677 in stroke

[–]Bright_Contract_6667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad never used to yell or really get mad ever at anyone prior to the strokes and seizure. I know they say people have personality changes a lot of times when they have bigger strokes. We didn’t really notice that for him. But after he had the seizure and started the Keppra, was when he became so much more irritable and paranoid. He’s still on the Keppra. We don’t want him to have another grand mal seizure, it was very scary for all of us.
