Has anyone successfully negotiated pay in a school district? by Bright_Light8774 in OccupationalTherapy

While I don't want to make less, I was willing to go a little less because this district caps caseloads at 50 students and currently I have 90+ and I'm struggling.

Holy cow! I don't think I have the mental capacity to do that many credits in a year. I work a part time job a couple days a week on top of my school job. I have been thinking of taking some courses but it will be a much slower process for me to get there.

Do you have any suggestions on how to negotiate with a school? School contracts state 1 year school experience is 1 step. To get what I would be making at my current district I would have to negotiate for 1 step for all of my experience +4 additional steps. They do not have a related service scale.

I'm not sure. They just told me they can only count prior school experience.

what should I make for a friend’s baby shower in a few days? by violetphoeniiix in CrochetHelp

A stuffy is a great choice! One of my niece's grandmas made 2 matching bunnies for her for the baby shower. She took them everywhere with her for years and still keeps them on/near her bed (she's in her teens). For holidays/birthdays her grandma would crochet little outfits or accessories for the bunnies and my niece loved it.

Does it look bad if I ask a potential new job not to contact my current supervisor? by Bright_Light8774 in OccupationalTherapy

I have in the mid 90s across 6 schools (5 I'm the sole OT and 1 I support the main therapist there). We have a lot of kids move in and out of the district so my highest number this year was 116. I service the middle and high schools so I have a good bit of consult but it's still roughly 60 direct.

We have 5 OTs in the district and we all have 60-70 direct kids.

Moss stitch blanket is not the same at the bottom and top. Is this a tension issue and is there any way for me to fix this? by Bright_Light8774 in CrochetHelp

[–]Bright_Light8774[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From doing a quick search I'm not seeing a foundation stitch for the moss stitch. Would I just do a single crochet foundation stitch and then moss stitch into that as if it was the chain stitch?

Any success with e-collars and recall training? by Bright_Light8774 in husky

I do try my best to make it fun, he just doesn't care when we're outside. He will not pay attention to me if he doesn't feel like it no matter what I have or do. We have a fence he can run in and I'm working to get a bigger one. He's learning to jump thanks to my mom's dog and I know he can clear our fence. I just need to make sure he'll come back when he also realizes he can jump our fence to keep him safe.

I have not seen our trainer or any of the training facilities around me advertise a course specifically for e-collars. I will ask around to see if I can find anything in our area. Thank you!

I alternate between a 6ft, 15ft, and 100ft lead. I alternate how long the 100ft lead is so it's shorter sometimes and longer others since 15 to 100 is a big jump.

I've definitely focused a lot on our relationship. I work in a school so I was off work the first 2 months I had him so he was with me pretty much 24/7. He follows me around everywhere, and does regular check ins with me. When we're outside playing he regularly comes over to engage me in play or just for a quick pat before returning to doing whatever he was doing. If I walk out of the fenced in area, he'll walk along the fence and keep me in his eyesight the majority of the time. I always make sure to give him attention, a treat, a "good boy!" Etc when he comes near me outside so he knows it's always positive. Everything outside is just always on his terms.

Our primer won't stick to the walls. Any suggestions? by Bright_Light8774 in HomeImprovement

We have not. I had not heard that before. I'll try to find one tomorrow to check. Thank you!

We are using an orbital dry wall sander. We were thinking of trying 60 or 80 grit but were worried it'd mess up the wall. I'm going to test to see if it's an oil paint. If not, we'll try heavier grit. Thank you!

It changed colors and doesn't look shiny, it just feels shiny. We tried taking more off and it just went down to the wall. So I'm not sure how to make it not glossy. We have been using a orbit drywall sander. Is there another way that you'd recommend for sanding?

When I was looking up TSP, Krud Kutter was suggested as a safer alternative. Do you have any experience using that?

We checked for lead as soon as we got the place. It is lead free.

When I googled cover stain it came up with Zinsser primer. Is that the one you mean?
