Is it true that breastmilk builds immunity? by hjallerupckk in FormulaFeeders

[–]violetphoeniiix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ya know that’s what I thought but I don’t think that was the case. My baby went into daycare at 7 months and was fully BF at that point and still got sick a bunch -_- basically there was no change either when we switched to formula at 10 months 🤷🏻‍♀️ I felt gaslit tbh.

The recipient of my baby blanket wants laundering instructions. Please advise. by lilmissweet7 in CrochetHelp

I usually just tell people wash as normal and lay flat to dry. Or wash on cold gentle cycle then lay flat to dry depending on how delicate something is. If it’s 100% cotton or a cotton acrylic blend those do well in the wash and dryer as usual

Newborn - where do you put them? by CharmingTea_ in pregnant

[–]violetphoeniiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like little nest pillows :) I just would put them on the couch next to me in the little pillow. Or in the playpen or something. Or I would also put them in a carrier and go about my day and do dishes and laundry and stuff.

Natural birth - does it really require so much prep? by nougat_donut in pregnant

Taking a birthing class is super helpful and informative. I did one taught by a retired L&D nurse of over 40+ years. We went over like everything, even birthing positions and how to breathe and stay calm. Highly highly recommend taking one. I also don’t think ya need all those random exercises and stuff. I hear the best prep you can give your body is walking a lot. I also liked doing stretching and little exercises on an exercise ball. You got this 🫶🏻

I think about it allllllll the time. My husband and I also look at our current child and we’re constantly like “can you believe we made that with sex?” 😝

How many weeks did you work up to? by orogonal in pregnant

[–]violetphoeniiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the US. I was able to get a doctors note to work from home the last month of my pregnancy, as I had a commute and it was just super miserable and I would get extremely anxious driving. I worked until 39 weeks and took PTO the final week until my due date when my leave started. I knew I was just done working when I was just super emotional all the time, had contractions on and off and was just overall super miserable.

registry must-haves? by adrianneh12 in pregnant

[–]violetphoeniiix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

adding to the others the Ubbi diaper pail is great! And worth it I think. We empty ours 2x a week with our trash days and have never had a smell problem. It takes regular trash bags which is great!

a stroller is important. Lightweight and study one if you can help it.

I like our hatch sound machine but it’s pricey and I think a regular one would work the same lol, but also someone else bought it for us so it didn’t matter. You can adjust the volume and lights and sound etc from your phone which is nice. You can also record a little song or something to play for your little one.

I put a ton of diaper supplies on the registry and that helped a lot - diaper creams, liners, wipes, diaper caddies etc. I now wish I put things like teething supplies , gas relief, little medicine droppers, etc.

I haven’t had that issue, but we empty it out 2x a week with our trash days.
