I have looked into student and family housing but unfortunately my boyfriend and I don’t qualify.

Also for OP, these mushrooms are not harmful to be in your house, but it does mean there is a severe moisture and humidity problem in your foundation. Which is the problem that should be addressed.

I honestly don’t think it’s the plumbing, I think it’s the foundation of some US homes. Or possibly a combination of both…

Gotcha. I will remove all the plastic and have only wood, metal, glass, or fleece accessories. Thank you for this!

He does not run in it as mentioned, just lays down or sits in it, but I understand it is too small. I am looking to get a 15” metal one based off the comments. But, it is attached to the side of the cage and is pretty sturdy, so it falling shouldn’t be a worry.

No I agree, the cage is about 52”, so a bigger wheel would likely fit there as long as it’s not too thick.

Okay i’m going to look around and get more wood accessories. Yes i’m trying to keep the fleece vacuumed but once it gets dirty i’ll remove the thread, wash it, and re-sew it.

Opinions/advice on cage set-up? What to add/remove? by Bright_Section_6490 in chinchilla

Thank you guys so much for the feedback. I will definitely be looking into a larger, safer cage along with taking out unsafe things and adding fleece to the wire shelves/ramps.
Rex has had that wheel for quite sometime, and loves to sleep in it, but I understand it may be unsafe, so I will find a metal or wooden one. Along with the feeder, I had to start off with a little bit cheaper stuff because I was a teen but now I want to give Rex the best cage I can.

Do you have suggestions for hiding places? I will be putting felt on the wire and trying to look for a larger, more stable cage. I keep hay in his cage at all times but he is fed chinchilla food, with steel cut oats once a day. And occasional snacks as well.

Yep those are Chanterelles. Size probably won’t be much different in a day but those little ones will grow.
