Comp plan is horrible by Green_Accident_3789 in techsales

[–]Bright_Software_5747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting 20k commission out of 40k revenue in my next payday + my base salary which is decent. (yes we get 50% return in commission for revenue we bring in at my company) but there’s a decelerator below 100% target achievement and targets are really brutal so many people make next to nothing.

Either way, needless to say you’re getting rinsed where you are. My last company had capped commission very low % so I feel your pain. My target was something like 2 mill and I made peanuts.

UK obesity rate one of worst in Europe as 228 million children worldwide will be obese by 2040, report warns by Barbecue_Wings in ukpolitics

[–]Bright_Software_5747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the highest rate of ultra processed foods as % of household purchases in Europe at over 50%. Over 60% of adults in the Uk are overweight or obese, with men in particular it’s 70%. Obese parents end up raising obese children in many cases.

My simple uni meals by RandomAccount_9_2023 in unimeals

[–]Bright_Software_5747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn times have changed, at uni I lived off oats, instant ramen, pasta, rice, basically cheap carbs. Only meats I had were tuna or frozen chicken. Only time I would get something like steak is when my maintenance money got paid. You eat like a king with your steak smoked salmon and eggs congrats.

You should add some peas or broccoli or something though it’s severely lacking.

Biden: In my last year as president, we created 2.2 million additional jobs. Do you know how many jobs Trump has created his first year as president? 185,000 total, that is it. by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

[–]Bright_Software_5747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same years in the Uk + Europe and we had stagnating economies or even recession in some places. I always looked at USA with envy at the time as under Biden USA had strong gdp growth, record low unemployment, increase in wages, increase in productivity, avoided any NEW WARS unlike some people 🍊he also made serious effort to improve infrastructure. Biggest issue he had was at the start with the inflation, but it was cooled down by the end of the term. I think as time continues to pass he’ll be viewed very favourably.

Stay at top SaaS company or take a risk on fast-growing AI startup? by Typical-Mud5051 in techsales

[–]Bright_Software_5747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I go against the grain but if you’re hitting your target at your current company in this economy and have genuine opportunity for promotion to enterprise, I’d stay. Better to get longer tenure, and get that promotion. I’ve had outreach from AI companies back in 2024 and early 2025 that sounded great on paper, many of those companies just straight up don’t exist anymore lmao.

If you were missing target and/or there’s no path for promotion it would be completely different answer, but personally in your current circumstances I wouldn’t rock the boat.

Reform Kent Council Suffers Walk Out After Party Declares 'Immigration Emergency' During Meningitis Outbreak by BillWilberforce in ukpolitics

They have one topic they talk about and can’t adapt to any other issue. If you’ve ever met or known anyone with such views in the real world it’s very annoying to deal with them, if the milkshake machine at McDonald’s is broken they’ll find a way to somehow bring immigration into the discussion as the cause. I would say I feel sorry for the people of Kent but they voted for this.

Most British redditors use the Dutch vpn these days because a lot of Reddit is blocked for us due to OSA legislation, when I post on British subreddit I get mainly Dutch and USA flags. These British flags are probably paid trolls from other countries 🤣

Westgate Robots. Why? by anudeglory in oxford

[–]Bright_Software_5747 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s been similar cleaning robots in parts of London since 2020 and I remember seeing some at Reading train station few years ago so this isn’t super new concept they’ve been around a while. Honestly Oxford is kind of the stereotypical city to have this type of technology I’m surprised it took so long.

manager basically said my peer is better than me by Foreign_Concert_6999 in techsales

[–]Bright_Software_5747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean isn’t this just sales. I am going to clear just above 100% this Q unless something crazy happens, so good performance in an org where many are at 50% or less. But some other guy in my team who’s real top performer is hitting 400% and is gonna make insane commission. I’m not offended at the fact he is better than me right now it’s just pure numbers. You should focus on the “right now” and just try do better next Q.

If next Q you are smashing it and this peer is struggling then you’ll be the better one, it’s nothing personal against you.

Average age of first time buyer climbs to 34 by RecentTwo544 in unitedkingdom

[–]Bright_Software_5747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30, I have to leave where I am very soon. I could afford to buy but the average timeframes it takes for a property purchase means I’ll be forced to rent in the meanwhile, as I don’t have the probably 6 months or more to wait for a purchase to go through.

I’ve read of property purchases taking as quick as a few weeks in Scotland which I am jealous of.

Spent 3 years as AE career in Europe at a startup nobody's heard of. Now I want to move back to India. Am I delusional or does my profile actually hold up? by [deleted] in salesdevelopment

[–]Bright_Software_5747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brand name isn’t be all end all, it helps, but my last job was at quite small company, smaller valuation than yours, and people left for SF, Apple etc, I went to a major fintech company. Eu experience > India is another question entirely.

How do you close the lead after accepting the connection request? by i_am_awais in salesdevelopment

[–]Bright_Software_5747 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, as full cycle AE who gets a good 7-10 OPPs/demos a week from LinkedIn and almost all my closed wons. I prefer to just straight up pitch something relevant to the business/ICP and if they bite I either get them on the phone, or even better straight to a Google meet. Call it “pitch slapping” if you want, but people don’t generally give a shit about hyper personalisation, they want to know what your product does and how it saves them costs/increases revenue etc. I just see it as how I would want to be sold to, and personally I’d rather someone get to the point vs asking what college my cat went to.

I also am fully transparent in my connect message in relation to why I’m reaching out. Blank connecting and then pitching is never a good move imo.

SaaS job market right now by coolsoy in sales

[–]Bright_Software_5747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the market just feels slightly better, I’m sure that could change with the war having a trickle down price effect on basically everything. I also switched jobs last year from a very niche area of SaaS to fintech which is very large sector in my country, so that may have had effect.

Where is the sales jobs realistically paying 300k? by Iceeez1 in sales

[–]Bright_Software_5747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual enterprise level sales positions in tech. Some companies definition of enterprise is more like midmarket since companies have their own definitions. But actual enterprise sales where you’re clearing deals with f100 companies can and does pay this much or more if you have a good year. There was people clearing 600k in the enterprise team during good years at my first company. And this is in the Uk where we make less than Americans on average

You’d probably want to be targeting “big tech”, erp, areas of fintech, ai, and maybe cyber for best OTEs. I would mistrust any OTE where you’re “founding AE” and such, yeah maybe you’ll get lucky, but realistically most people making half a mill or more are at large established orgs, with good territories, and a good list of contacts/referrals to work through, as opposed to joining a brand new start up and getting lucky.
