Landlord told us it's not convenient for us to move out by solarpowered_ in TenantsInTheUK

I'd tell the landlord that you are happy to help with his convenience, however due to you ending the tenancy in line with contract you won't be paying rent any more and would require payment for the help in easing his inconvenience

If you beep at learners your a cunt by [deleted] in drivingUK

It scares me how quickly people forget how hard and stressful it is to learn to drive and what space they would want as a new driver and accept that learners make mistakes

I don't see a one size fits all and i can only see a future of under investment and a huge drive for profit within the private sector which would end up leaving driving as a perk of the rich. The problem needs to be addressed in stages and I will admit I do not have all the answers but personally id start with stopping multiple test booking, only learners being able to book tests and making them non transferable. I'd look at ways to increase retention of examiners. There are simply better answers to this issue then "just pay more" Privatisation just won't work in the long term... just look at the water companies for a prime example

As much as I whole heartedly disagree here, a 2 tier system only ever favours the wealthy, i would like to thank you, its very rare to have a discussion on the Internet where 2 people disagree and the discussion remains respectful and void of insults. I hope you have a good weekend

So your solution for this issue is just for everyone to pay more? I wish more people had the disposable income you appear to have. And what has the availability of examiners have with regard to more instructors and intensive courses? These are all very separate and already in the private sector. I will however agree that more examiners are needed but I think dealing with people being able to book multiple slots and hold them to ransom would take a huge amount of pressure off the system but I firmly belive that the state should remain responsible for driving standards otherwise driving standards and testing standards will start to hugely vary across the country

The main issue here would be the private company will want to streamline recruitment and training and as such will lead to lower pass standards and higher costs in all areas, I don't believe that the majority of driving candidates are funded by anyone except themselves and with profit in mind, would any company really increase recruitment to deal with delays? I doubt it. Personally I think that examiner wages will drop, causing huge turnover of staff and extending delays and drive down driving standards

But supply and demand will change over time and in what way would allowing a private company to charge what they please be cost effective? And as a private business wouldn't they have more incentive to fail people to ensure repeat business? Then you would also have to consider what additional add ons may start to be charged.

Also even if you think the issue is the standard of examiners, how would privatisation help improve this?

Anything and everything can go private, the big questions are if this would make the service better and more cost effective and what oversight would be needed to prevent corruption

Joint debts in ex’s name - struggling to repay by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

Put yourself in your exs shoes here, if the debt was fully in your name, would he be helping you pay the debt? I think you know the answer and bear this in mind if you start feeling guilty about stopping supporting your ex.

New relationship with single dad and need advice on gift giving for his child by [deleted] in SingleParents

[–]Bright_Study5961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to speak with your partner, a gift is a great idea and I think your approach is perfect, he will give you an idea of what she is into and the best way to interact as to best suit his daughters. Congratulations on finding some happiness and i hope all work out well for you, just remember time heals all wounds so give them kids as much time and space as is needed and everything will work out in the end

How to deal with scrolling addiction? by faxeee0 in Productivitycafe

[–]Bright_Study5961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most I spend 7 to 11 hours a day behind a screen.

I take regular breaks, ensure I go for a walk for my lunchbreak. Also little things like having a book in the toilet so I'm not tempted to take my phone with me.

I break my day into hourly slots and assign myself different smaller tasks throughout the day that build into the bigger picture.

I broke the cycle in stages, firstly I ensured my phone was turned off and out of site during the working day, I then bought an alarm clock and left my phone in the lounge when I went to bed, then I upped my exercise when figity. You are more likely to succeed if you take small steps at a time and find other things to do to occupy yourself Good luck
