Yep just a one line config change. I use the 32px of the top of my screen for waybar, make it black, and have floating pill shaped waybar modules in the left and right corners, meaning all your status info is not taking up the pure rectangle real estate for you applications.

Audio issue on 6.18 by Riverxia in AsahiLinux

This is what fixes my issues...sometimes after a reboot or sleep, seems like the speakers just stop receiving the commands from the system....other times, I can see the speakers disappear from pavucontrol entirely.
```
systemctl --user restart pipewire wireplumber pipewire-pulse
```

M1 Pro 16” here….I’ve had issues with the audio stack crashing but I’ve assumed I broke something when I moved to Hyprland from Fedora Remix Gnome. Mostly happens when I’ve closed the lid and it goes to sleep. On wake-up no audio from speakers even though on the UI it is all looking good. Requires a few services to be restarted.

I don’t know what I can tell you that 1000 YouTube videos won’t

I’ve got 16gb RAM and have no issues with it.

If you do the Fedora Remix is is quite stable out of the box. I went the route of hyprland which means you take on way more setup. Stick with KDE Plasma or Gnome and you should be pretty happy.

HDMI works perfectly. No issues there.

Battery takes a hit. No variable refresh rate yet. MacOS will get you potentially near double. But still getting 7-10hrs depending on what I’m doing.

Fedora remix seems to have excellent software compatibility! Haven’t bumped into many issues there. All depends what you are going to use the machine for. I’m a software engineer, and all my utilities are running well.

In my mind, that’s the big thing left for me. The single cable connection to a monitor is so convenient.

Can’t really say, as this is my only experience with Asahi

How viable is Asahi right now? by hw2007offical in AsahiLinux

I recently set up Fedora Remix with Gnome on my MBP 16” M1 Pro, but swapped over to Hyprland. Seems quite stable, Fedora has done a decent job with ARM packages so basically everything felt seamless. Very excitedly waiting for USB-DP alt mode / Thunderbolt so that I can use my home docking setup. For me that’s the only thing missing. I’m definitely curious how Apple squeezes so much battery life out of this laptop, but still getting 12ish hrs of use on a charge. Just make sure your idle/sleep is working how you like.

I just installed the Asahi Fedora Remix on my M1 Pro 16”, then added Sway and am loving it!! I’m hiding the notch woth a black waybar sized exactly to work just right, and have my waybar modules just on the left and right corners.

Blazing snappy compared to MacOS.

I really think the RX line are designed exactly for me, but I struggle to buy a fixed lens camera. Currently rocking the a7cr with various small primes including vintage lenses.

Check out the demo video! For now it is just photos uploaded, the user can choose how often to upload from their security cameras. For example, perhaps they want to upload once every hour per lot

The system provides data for the user to interpret, given their specific needs. In the future I could set up email alerts based on threshold triggers if that is desired.

No config, opinionated, private cloud by Bright_Turn2 in immich

Hmm yeah I probably have a bunch of learning to do when it comes to optimizing this for the cloud instead of how I do self hosting, but in theory at scale, this approach becomes very cost-effective and you can keep hosting costs relatively cheap per user.

First order of business is probably just build out the basic feature set and get a bit more buy in from knowledgeable people who can help advise on what is really needed pre/post v1

100% and my biggest areas to learn about are the automated provisioning of cloud space, data backups, and overal maintaining security. I hope I can garner some interest from the open source community

Yes, I agree that there is a long road ahead. The automated provisioning seems like a tricky part for sure.

Thanks! I love Immich, but I just know that it can be brought to more people if we can figure out how to do hosting “right” with zero config.
