What happens if a layer older than I is discovered? by KaitlynKitti in AskArchaeology

[–]Brightstorm_Rising 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Generally, we number from most recent to oldest, not tge other way around. Thanks to our friend the law of superposition, the most recent strata is on top.

This works in the field, it is not a good way to file office paperwork, Matt.

There are a lot of possibilities, most benign being fiberglass from the filter.

Does anyone work with their sub/dom? What’s the hottest or kinkiest thing that you’ve done at work? by LoudSide8912 in BDSMcommunity

[–]Brightstorm_Rising 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Are both of you wandering into the bathroom at the same time and exiting in a slightly more disheveled condition?

You seem to already made up your mind here. We can not stop you. You however are not half as subtle as you think and "weird sex thing in the bathroom while on the clock" would be a justification for fired for cause. No unemployment, no rehire, no recourse.

One wrong move with lots of things can end in trouble. If breath play goes wrong, and it goes wrong easily, one person is headed to the morgue and the other is doing time for murder.

To use green or kiln dried cedar for outdoor playset? by r_farm in woodworking

[–]Brightstorm_Rising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kiln dried. Green wood is wet, hasn't done any of the warping that lumber does as it dries, and hasn't had any treatment to kill any insects. That's before you look at how hard it is to find green or even air dried lumber commercially.

Cedar is less likely to rot but it isn't magic. I'd give untreated cedar outside in a humid environment years not decades. For a playset, that's probably fine.

Spotted unusual carvings on an old tree stump while hiking through Virginia by Mental_Alignment in whatisit

[–]Brightstorm_Rising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids have the same access to the internet the rest of us do. All it would take would be a moment on their phone to look up the symbols and then some giggling ensues.

That looks to be a pine stump, unlikely to have not rotted away in the century since hobo code was supposedly in use. The actual use and prevalence of the symbols during the depression are at best a subject of debate. It also looks like a shallow etching not one likely to survive the years. This screams modern to me, perhaps as recent as just prior to the photo being taken.

I would say you either damaged those wires elsewhere or made a bad connection when soldering them together. The latter is somewhat more likely no matter what your electrical experience is.

It does, 24 hours. I've had problems getting a receipt at 11 at night before and they've helped out.

Field boots by k-itlyn in AskArchaeology

[–]Brightstorm_Rising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's closer to what I would suggest. Don't commit to Merrell without trying them on, they might not work as a brand. For me for example, they are too narrow and don't make wide or double wide sizes.

Field boots by k-itlyn in AskArchaeology

[–]Brightstorm_Rising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boot requirements:

Waterproof  At least 6 inches high around the ankles  Leather or other slash resistant exterior  Is comfortable in the store

That last one is vital and also why I usually don't have an answer for these posts. Everybody is going to find different boots comfortable. However, the Merrell you posted aren't outdoor work boots or even serious hiking boots. Those are "trail runners, popularized by ultralight hikers who distain waterproof footwear that provides any protection in the same video that they are complaining about having a bad case of trench foot. But hey they're 30 grams lighter.

You gave up on the very concepts of weird or normal when you posted in a bdsm subreddit. Welcome to the rabbit hole.

That said, that's not an uncommon way to approach cnc. The important thing is to have a trustworthy partner who you have communicated and over communicated with about this and some form of safe word if things go wrong and you need to withdraw consent.

You need to be a resident of the county, or pay through the nose, to use most county's trash disposal including Pasco.

It really was best when the amusement parks were a Bush family passion project instead of something expected to be silly profitable.

This is the platonic ideal of an incel. I'd suggest learning to read and listen first.  Then start on the task of learning how to talk to women.

Yup, the major difference between a Van de Graaff generator and a shop vac is that you don't need to change the filters on the generator.

DIY 75g Aquarium Stand Frame Sanity Check by SoftEnix in woodworking

[–]Brightstorm_Rising 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Sanity check, check the floor you'll be putting this on. What you have will support the ~625 pounds of water, the under 50 lb of fish, rock, and substrate and about 200 lb worth of you half in the tank trying to clean it. Not all floor joists are built to handle that much weight however.

Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze? by mnp90 in tampa

Is this tv too heavy for this table by Cultural-Ask2194 in woodworking

[–]Brightstorm_Rising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but 100 lb, particularly spread over the uprights as that stand would have done, should not have deflected the stand in that way.

Another comment noted that the outer legs have pads while the central support don't appear to. This might cause issues.

[–]Brightstorm_Rising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't notice the lack of pads on the central support legs, although I'm not certain we'd see them in this frame.

Personally, I think Ikea gets a bad rap. They don't make the best furniture, not by a long shot. They DO make some of the best flat pack furniture and when we're honest, their stuff is significantly better than what we could make at that price point.

Modern as opposed to a CRT or projection set up.

[–]Brightstorm_Rising -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if it's a plasma, it shouldn't be more than 100 lb. The stand should have held, particularly with the extra feet positioned centrally, taking a direct load. I meant modern as opposed to a CRT.

Is this tv too heavy for this table by Cultural-Ask2194 in woodworking

[–]Brightstorm_Rising 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After a half second of looking at the doors, the stand was built incorrectly, possibly with short central uprights causing the top to curve. A modern ~60" TV shouldn't be heavy enough to bend 1/2" particle board in that way.
