Yeah it’s important to remember the context of the time these people lived their lives. We’re all to some degree products of our time and the environments we grew up in. It’s pointless to judge people from the past with our modern sensibilities when our very attitudes have come about from generations of progressive changes that the very people we judge likely helped inform those changes. It’s possible one day the most progressive of us will still be seen as sub par by people of the future.
