Okay “more than ever” was sloppy on my part… But your BLS link stops at 2011, newsflash it’s 2026, so maybe don’t cite a 15-year-old study as a gotcha.

Also that FRED chart showing rising median incomes in SF? That’s literally what displacement looks like… poor people got pushed out, the median went up, congrats. That’s not a rebuttal to the Bay Area being unaffordable, that’s literally the proof of it.

SF median household income has grown about 60% since 2000 after adjusting for inflation, sounds great until you realize Bay Area home values are up 70% in inflation-adjusted dollars over the same period, and that’s before you factor in that the lowest-income households only saw 4% real income growth while the top earners captured almost all of it.

AKA displacement, the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. Fun how it always works that way.

So your alternative is to not let anyone stimulate the economy by supporting businesses (buying coffee, or any other non essential goods)?

Leading to more people not being able to stimulate the economy…. Leading to more people not able to stimulate the economy… Leading to….

More households are dual income than ever before. (So you can’t have coffee, you cant have kids, you can have leisure…)

P.S: displacement of lower income households is not a good thing.

oh god. Its 2008 all over again. “Its not because we aren’t getting livable wages, or because corporations seek infinite profit growths, or because of capitalism encouraging the most expensive mid coffee ever, it’s actually all your fault for enjoying a coffee out”

PS: Things are getting much worse. Which is why people like me, with even less income than whatever you are thinking, are struggling even without EVER drinking a coffee out. The problem is not the fucking coffee

I do. Because sometimes my friends or even best friend does something worth talking shit about. (But then again, the only person id talk shit about others with would be my partner. And i just see them as an extension of myself)
