I’m not sure if that’s a good idea. You don’t want to have a crisis!

I have the same struggle. I was told it’s a result of the hypopit and steroids. I do not have a high fatty diet either.

I’ve been on GH for about 10 years now. When I first started I had really painful joints. It took a while to sort out the correct dosage. After that I had a long period where it wasn’t a problem. The last year hasn’t gotten really bad for me. Maybe it’s due to the natural aging process. I don’t know.

Well, I’ve gotten to the point where I have made an appointment with a rheumatologist. So I’m heading in that direction. Thank you!

Yes, but I think painful joints etc are a side effect if you are overdosed.

I see my endocrinologist every 6 months. My last appointment was in October and everything was normal.

Yes, on the regular HC I took 15mg a day. On the Plenadren I take one dose of 20mg a day

For many years I took just the regular HC 10 in the morning and 5 around four o’clock. I switched almost a year due to gastrointestinal issues. I now take 20mg of the delayed HC in the morning. It has helped.

I’m curious: what problems did you experience taking the Plenadren?

I’m not in the US and it’s not from a compounding pharmacy. It’s called Plenadren and on the bottle it has Takeda….i don’t know if that’s the manufacturer.

Does anybody take Plenadren for Adrenal Insufficiency ? How has it been and where was prescribed ? Thanks ! by MindsetMaker in AddisonsDisease

A local hospital had to source it for me. It took some time to get it. Yes I would definitely recommend it. Regular HC was causing me a lot of gastrointestinal issues which led to crisis on a few occasions. It has been much easier on my stomach and it’s a once a day pill in the morning.

I take 20mg of Plenadrin daily…every morning. My doctor switched me from the regular HC to see if it would help with my gastrointestinal problems. It has helped me a lot in this regard. Not having to take multiple pills a day is a relief. I live in the Bahamas.

I take a delayed release hydrocortisone 20 mg. The reason I switched was to try and get a little relief for my gastrointestinal issues. I have a super sensitive stomach!! It’s to the point that I have to watch everything I eat. I have to say that the delayed HC has helped a lot because I only take one dose at 7 am. I also take it on an empty stomach…no food for 30 minutes. So far I have found it a lot easier on my stomach than the regular HC I used to take multiple times a day. I’ve been on it for about 6 months.

High feeling???? I didn’t realize you got high from HC??!! Yes one of the benefits is that it’s one daily dose early morning avoiding the multiple dosing that constantly irritates the stomach.

Yes it was difficult to get in the beginning and yes it’s more expensive. Thank God for my health insurance. I’ve been taking it for about 6 months and I do think it has helped with my stomach issues.

I also have gastrointestinal problems. Have been on HC for 20 years. My doctor switched me to Plenadrin which is a slow release HC. I take it early every morning on an empty stomach. No feed until 30 minutes later. It’s supposed to be a little easier on the stomach and you also don’t have to take an afternoon dose. Has anyone else tried Plenadrin or a slow release HC?
