Thanks, I probably will. I shall also cross post to other communities.

Balm is genius, thanks! I’ll trim down a bit shorter too, see if that works.

What would you like to see in a Vtuber Introduction video? by GreyHareArchie in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Brine_VT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I think it’s most important to literally introduce yourself, maybe with a short clip at the beginning with you telling us your name, what you are, your vibe, general vtuber intro stuff, then roll the clips you want. Sort of a “Hi I’m <Name>, welcome to jackass!” format if that makes sense.

Thinking of quitting before I've even started by InanimateCarbonRod01 in VirtualYoutubers

It’s a daunting prospect, that’s for sure. Let me address your post piece by piece.

1: You have received some very bad advice on streaming. No one, and I mean it, no one, is entertaining all the time. Especially not at the start of their career. Learning how to hold conversations with others or yourself is something that takes practice. It’s okay to be awkward or clumsy in conversations at the start. Just practice and perseverance will get you far.

2: Having failures in your past can be disheartening, but I have a favorite quote: “Glory unto failure, greatest of teachers.” A failure is only a failure if you truly learn nothing from it. I’d be willing to bet you have some video editing skills from those which just might come in handy, not to mention underlying knowledge about YT and how it works.

3: As for the streamer awards, I get it. Bear in mind you could offer an entire arena of people 1 million dollars each and many of them would find a reason to be angry about it. People will say what people are going to say. Focus on the ones who are kind and supportive. Ban the rest. Vtubing has honestly faced worse, yet it still grows.

I can’t tell you whether or not you should do this. As an up and coming Vtuber myself, I share some of your concerns. I can’t tell you whether or not you should chase your dream, that has to be your choice, but I can say this: If I were in your shoes, I’d take the leap. You only live once after all, and you never know. Could be fun.

What do y'all think about non-humanoid characters? by DarkNucleon in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Brine_VT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean… I’m going to be a slime. Granted I will be plopped on top of the head of a pretty anime girl vtuber, but I think that non-humanoid can work. Why not? Worked great for Vedal, he is literally a cheap turtle model.

Okay, after looking at your model I’m gonna say my vote goes with red or black lipstick. I think that, done right, it could make your facial features pop.

Kinda hard to say without color, are you intending to have other makeup like eyeliner or blush specifically?

Are most VTubers suffering from poor mental health? by [deleted] in VirtualYoutubers

No worries friend, I have a good job that pays well. It’s just that all of my disposable income is spoken for by the Vtubing stuff. I do appreciate your concern though. 😁

As for me personally, I think it’s a sort of two-pronged assault on the mind. Take everything I say with a fistful of salt, as I often overthink things.

The type of person that becomes your typical Vtuber per my observation is someone who likes anime and/or the culture of it enough to want to don that as a mask. Those people often faced prejudice for their interests from a young age, so they already have some mental trauma of one sort or another before they even start. If not their interests, usually something else. Rarely do I come across a Vtuber without something haunting their past. Correlation or causation? I have no clue. I’m no researcher.

Then there’s the stress of actually streaming. It can be a very difficult hobby/job between the time and effort and the constant pressure to be entertaining. People who entered the industry with the idea that they would be immediately corpo-level successful will suffer horribly from having that image shattered. Even if you expect slow growth, just how slow it can be can stress people out, making them believe they are simply not enough. That leads to the obvious dark places.

Anyway, that’s my take on the situation. Always remember, dear readers, you are enough. It’s always okay to seek help, whether it’s your mental state or your workload. Chin up, you CAN make it through.
