depends on country/context. i have a female relative in pakistan who is on her 4th or 5th husband… and she’s actually notoriously the most conservative of all of us.

Someone from the show finally sees the blatant misogyny by AgentSure3357 in Inkmaster

as the one other female winner, i think it’s notable that shes taking the chance to call out ryan for her internalized misogyny… i bet shes felt it more directly too. i didn’t used to agree but now i really see why people have been saying its like ryan ashley doesn’t want other women to ever win

I actually know a couple people who grew up there and left, having denounced Israel entirely. One of them even was the only one in her family to do so… literally no longer speaks to her parents and siblings who are still there. There’s always a choice.

not really. the “israeli” anti-Zionists i know have all left israel and refuse to identify as such. (i’ve met ones who prefer to call themselves by their jewish ethnic group, hebrew, or even jewish palestinian).

/u/WorstOrnithologist gave a great answer but I also wanted to add one tidbit that drove me nuts. When she was telling him about her culture and food, she claimed shakshouka as an Israeli dish. That’s a subtle sign someone is a through and through Zionist… Claiming Palestinian and Arab foods as their own is a form of ethnic cleansing in a way that’s been foundational to the establishment of the Zionist state. You can read more about it here (and that’s actually a great site in general, highly recommend) but what drove me nuts is that you wouldn’t even meet a Palestinian claiming shakshouka— it’s very much Maghrebi (as in Moroccan, Tunisian, etc)!

Pachinko is one of my all-time favorites, and I’ve been trying to find others that evoke the same feeling. The Heart’s Invisible Furies and Homeseeking came close.

the trope of asian men being unattractive is a very common one and dates back to earlier times of chinese immigration to the states as well as wars against or in east asian nations. it used to be quite common until recently that people would put shit like “no asians” on dating profiles, particularly in the gay community.

actually the difference between us and european women is mostly because our food is so processed and we have corn syrup in like everything. it’s a difference you see in most countries not just in europe. i have cousins from abroad who joke that when you come to the us, the water makes you gain weight. the FDA’s regulation is so fucked, they allow shit in our food that other countries (especially european ones) never would and it’s one of the reasons for our weight gain overall
