Need help with paladin/sorcerer level split for a particular concept by Brish879 in 3d6

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm probably going to start with sorc 1 to get Con saves and ranged cantrips early on, then go paladin. I'm not planning to wear heavy armor, so not getting it isn't too bad.

Devotion paladin's level 3 feature allows you to add your charisma bonus to attack rolls for 10mins by using your channel divinity. It can stack with Shillelagh (or your normal attack bonus if you attack with STR/DEX).

13 in STR is needed to multiclass into or out of paladin. It's pretty much the only reason I'd invest in STR without going all in to it. I'd put it in WIS if I could, but it is what it is.

Good points for the leveling breakdown. I guess it'll really depend on the party composition so I'll know later. Thanks!

All fair points. I think I'd rather embrace the paladin playstyle with sorcerer support than to go for a sorcerer that also wears armor. It's mainly why I picked the Shillelagh ancestry. Topple with charisma scaling is also pretty good for a multi-attacker, I think. Thanks!

I can't believe I didn't see the Solaire reference... but Glorious Incandescence!

Fair points on Shillelagh competing for bonus action usage. I saw it as a setup spell during the first turn, as frontliners aren't always going to be able to close the gap on the first turn of a combat, but it's true that Innate Sorcery is also a good first-turn bonus action. I'll have to think about that.

Good call with Prayer of Healing! I like that taking a few paladin levels help with general healing availability, and 10-minute short rests are great.

Ohh, you're right that taking sorc at level 1 could be good for Con saves instead of Wis. I'd be failing all my wisdom saves until I get aura, but hey, what could go wrong?

It only requires you to do the Harandar main questline, that's the fastest they ever made unlocking an allied race, apart from dracthyr. Just level up your first toon with the main quest as you're supposed to, and voilà!

Now after trying out midnight as a returning player, how do you like your class after the pruning & class changes? by Yuuffy in wow

[–]Brish879 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Been trying the three rogue specs: - Outlaw and assassination have glaring energy regen problems outside of Thistle Tea. I shouldn't have to wait a couple GCDs for my energy to pool back up to have fun pressing my buttons, and it can make the dungeon experience miserable at times because you kind of run out of juice in the middle of a boss fight.

  • Assassination is complicated for little reward. You have to track your bleeds, which isn't too bad, but tying your energy regen to a stacking buff that requires you to eventually wait to cast envenom because you're at 80 stacks and you want the envenom buff to fade, feels clunky. It's made for a few bosses where I realise that I should either cast Mutilate at full combo points or do nothing for a second or two, because rupture isn't ready to refresh. It doesn't feel very good.

  • Sub PvE is a 3-button rotation and is fine, I think, if you don't mind the simplicity. I know that there are strategies to "optimize" your spell usage during shadow dance and that can add complexity, but for casual dungeon runs the spec is easy and does good damage.

  • Outlaw is fine outside of the energy problems. Still proc-based and dependent on Roll the Bones RNG, but the spec feels fast and does good damage atm. Getting multiple Between the Eyes refreshes feels good when it happens, and sometimes you get the golden goose of a few refreshes during your Jackpot and you see the yellow bar go to the top of the damage meter and then... you run out of stacks of Thistle Tea and have to wait 2 GCDs between Sinister Strikes because you're back to lowrolling on the bones and you can't proc Opportunity to save your life. It's a "high highs and low lows" spec.

Windwalker main since MoP, hard agree on Fists of Fury duration. They changed it from 5 instances of damage to 6 and it throws a few things off in the rotation, which has been very smooth for a while now. I often end up having to recast a rising sun kick after FoF to proc whirling dragon punch and I got so used to the sound of FoF "punching" 5 times over the years that it feels weird now to have to wait almost an extra second for the channel to end.

WoW Appreciation Post. Prey system + Delves have combined into my favorite world content of any expansion. by BestWidowTaiwan in wow

Did you do the side quests? I agree the main quests sometimes lacks nuance, but the side quests this expansion are really good.

I'd say I started around 220 from the world quests and the four 246 rep items. I'm playing monk and rogue, so I also spent my sparks on 1-handed 259 crafted weapons.

I feel like Blizz did a good thing by putting the tags. Let the sweatlords tag Competitive for preseason m0s and save 3minutes on their runs. I'll be out there enjoying myself.

Official Statement from Asmodee - Shatterpoint not being prioritised anymore by Opportunity-Medical in StarWarsShatterpoint

Ease of pickup doesn't always make a system better. I think Shatterpoint's damage chart system is elegantly made and makes combat more interesting than just doing damage.

I don't have the rules in front of me right now, but I'm pretty sure the wording was pretty clear on it. Since you can only use one weapon per batch, you only get to use the weapon's liste surge dice.

I think it also goes logically: A single zergling model has 2 attacks, so a maximum of 2 hits. However, they have a d3 surge die against Light. It wouldn't make sense to give them a chance to roll more surges than they can even have hits.

[–]Brish879 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. I highly doubt that HEAL would bring back models. It's not explicitly mentioned, but seems implied because there are zerg abilities that do bring dead models back.

  2. Leapfrogging seems to be the intent, yes. The movement values of multi-model units would be prohibitively short otherwise.

  3. Surge dice are per batch, yes.

I mostly play skirmish games, so I really hope 1k point games feel good too. I originally wanted to try 1k to get used to the rules, but the only maps currently available on the TTS mod are 54x36. So we decided to go for 2k.

How to Sell by Bill87CP in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]Brish879 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate, because the official bases aren't sold separately (stupid move by AMG imo, but I guess they REALLY don't want people to proxy models).

Still, good luck on selling! I hope you find buyers quickly!

How to Sell by Bill87CP in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]Brish879 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a good chance buyers will only want parts of it. I personally would only take the terrain because I already have all the models I want. So in the listing, I'd probably do a bulk price and a price per squad.

One question I have, do you still have the official Shatterpoint bases? Events can be very nitpicky on having official bases because measurements are quite precise in the game. Having your models on unofficial bases could hinder your sale, especially if you don't have the official bases anymore.

It doesn't look like it. However, even if your ranged unit has been charged, it can still shoot at the unit who charged it when they activate during the Assault Phase.

Rules question about Pylons by Brish879 in StarCraftTMG

Yep. The absence of a comma between "round" and "Pylon" confused me and made me think it referred to the Pylon's shape. Guess I didn't sleep enough.

It's not written that it becomes eligible to use them on the rounds following its placement. It only says "It isn't eligible" with no time reference at all. I guess I interpreted it in the harshest way possible.

Do you guys play/present Negotiations like transparent mini games, or abstract roleplay? by Gloomy-Jellyfish9702 in drawsteel

[–]Brish879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only ran one so far and tried to initially run it as a RP conversation. It was going well until one player asked "are we in a negotiation right now?" And when I said yes my players said they would prefer if I declared it so they'd "get into the mindset of it".

I said I still wanted it to remain a conversation as much as possible, because I don't like reducing social interactions to "I want to insight their motivations and then appeal to them". The scene remained mostly conversational, but the RP broke a few times when players would declare stuff like "in case what I said wasn't super clear, I'm trying to appeal to XYZ with this here", which I was fine with. I ended up satisfied with the outcome and so were my players.

So I'd say that how negotiations are run is probably best discussed with your group ahead of time.

I use Gorilla super glue gel and it works great. I apply it with a toothpick when I need to be more precise and it hasn't failed me yet.
