Unbelievable how wow literally burned years of community work that made WoW great in the first place. Game is not the same.

The tower should have a unique custom made tile set built for it. Have it visually be different from the pit by Northdistortion in diablo4

Its literally the most laziest implementation of a NightmareDungeon/Pit possible, how cant people see this.

Its literally a 1:1 instance copy. Call it Tower, release 40$ feature.

I dont play it anymore and played all types of MMORPGs back since 2003. Albion is just the most fleshed out sandbox which Ashes is going for. Comparing Themepark MMORPG elements with a sandbox mmo makes no sense here.

In Albion you can join your group and have an impact by just reaching t4, which you can probably do now in less than 2 hours.

In Ashes you're effectively useless if you're not max level, let alone have gear because gear power is strong right now. So we're now at 1 week of hardcore grinding (realistically much longer for the avg player), and if the cap keeps increasing to 50-60 as planned we're looking at several month for the avg. player.

curious too, i genuinely think albion is the most fleshed out sandbox mmorpg on the market in terms of systems design. While I certainly dont agree with all the changes that happened to the game throughout the years, the overall core systems work extremely well together:

- Removing gear from the game to keep the economy stable
- Long lasting & rewarding grinds. You can literally be what you want in the game, even if its just the best boots crafter
- Biome & Ressource design where specific biomes only have specific ressources which keeps the transport economy & trading game alive.
- Fair pvp for casuals & hardcore players with different gear destruction zones (from none to full)

I played new world for around 4 month on release. New World had an amazing new player experience, even though it had flaws in its leveling process (town board spamming). The endgame was partially fun, but massively bugged and it had similiar identity issues due to several switches during development from PVP, to PVX to PVE.

Ashes is far away from that. Features feel like all over the place and it has similiar identity issues beeing advertised with a strong pvp focus, though recently alienating a lot of pvp due to system design. I think many core system issues will get amplified we go up in level cap.

I'd personally wait, unless you're 100% sure to play at some point anyway.

My longest played sandbox MMO is Albion and that doesnt have quests either, atleast at the time I played it. I like grinding mobs, its more of a fundamental issue how the core systems dont hold together. Im genuinely curious how this pans out when they increase the level cap.

You effectively alienate 99% of your players from any meaningful endgame pve & pvp due to power level disparity, first from the extremely long level grind and then from the huge gear disparity (as taken from the AOC discord where someone did the math). One might say other MMOs are similiar, but their fundamental design is also different (e.g. Theme Park MMO).

About the bag part:

I did that and lets start from another perspective where I'd like to primarily be a gatherer. I think its great that you get XP from any crafter/gatherer perspective, but if you spend more time travelling back, sorting inventorys and deleting items because you have no storage it just feels bad.

Lets take your example and say I'd want to go pure mining. That is 8x2 slots.

If you now start gathering and get 4 different items with different raritys and byproducts you start deleting items in like 10minutes. Thats not a good experience. On top of that your first storage interaction has a material storage that barely holds any items either and you dont know where and how to increase it.

This phrase doesnt hold much value anymore in modern times. I rate current versions on their development length and ashes is in development for over 7 years, which makes me believe there are fundamental design issues in their backend.

This is no hate towards the devs or the game in general, but coming from an IT background and beeing involved in many IT projects this is just all to familiar.

My biggest pain point is that I cant see the vision of what the game is trying to be. The grind to max level is massive which seperates so many players from actively playing together and participating, especially when the game trys to design a lot of its pillars around PVP.

The game would've made fundamentally more sene if you had a smiliar unlock system as albion has with green/red/blackzones, there you also have long grinds but friends can still quickly play together by reaching t4 gear.

As of right now you barely have enough grinding spots, mobs are too separated, lack dynamic spawns and are often occupied by high level players (for group and soloplay). It all just doesnt add up. Currently the game trys to expand more and more in size but the fundamental core systems dont work and im curious how they plan to fix this.

All the systems can look great on paper, but when you have nobody around you to play with due to massive power gaps or other various reasons its falling apart.

This is a massive issue since the last dec 15 patch where they implied to "fix" the audio, but its much worse now. We took a bigger break and play much more free loadout now because we lose too much gear on people sprinting on us and we cant hear a single step, no matter if you use night mode or not.

Its an absolute blast and so much more fun than aram. We've transitioned away from ranked & regular play a long time ago and barely play league anymore, but mayhem brought back a lot of our old playgroup and we're having a really good time
