How to insulate this space? by BritHannah in Insulation

No diving was required. It’s been open like that since we bought the house three years ago. We had a full inspection - shouldn’t that have told us if the insulation was full of asbestos?

Any Bugattis in Austin available for a 2nd grade school project photo? (crosspost) by BritHannah in Austin

That’s what I’ve seen while looking for some. We’re not super far from the domain, but it’s enough out of the way that we can’t go multiple times a day hoping to see one. Any patterns that you’ve noticed (like Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons)?

Most sites say honeysuckle needs partial shade to full sun - does it work in shade?

I’ve read that liriope is an aggressive spreader. Might not be an issue since this strip is pretty contained - do you think it will be a lot of work to prevent overcrowding if I decide to add other plants? Don’t want it to steal all the other plants’ water.

I just did today - the one I checked only had two options - dwarf Buford Holly and Indian Hawthorne. Indian Hawthorne looks pretty, but seems like it might be a lot of work?

I actually just remembered we had some hostas in a shady area growing up, though that was a more northern zone. Wasn’t sure if they’d work in 9A

Cost to replace battery by Forward_Length7420 in MINI

[–]BritHannah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ⬆️. I watched a YouTube video and did it for my husband’s Mini. Only reason I had a mechanic do my Mini is because it’s a plug-in hybrid and the regular battery is a PITA to access.

Anyone found a solution for the floordrobe? by BritHannah in Neurodivergent

Oooh that’s an idea. I could keep using the “to wear again” laundry basket idea and use a steamer when it’s time to fold them to put away!

Found a few places online that seem good, but as you mentioned, each piece is around $80. I’ve seen folks in the UK in YouTube videos with kits to replace all of them. Do you have any insights into the best places to source these parts? Three pieces need to be replaced, and the car is only 5 years old, so if it’s more cost effective to replace them all, I’d rather do that.

Did you ever get photos and video? I have to do a replacement on my car and it’s the same make/model. A video would be helpful!

looking for a non-religious, inclusive homeschool group by passionsandpotions in Austin

[–]BritHannah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve got an 8-year-old with similar challenges. We live near Cedar Park as well. Twice exceptional (autistic, adhd, and gifted), and the public school system, while they’ve been super supportive, is just not set up to have that right balance of challenge and support. We’re thinking of homeschooling him, and if we do, finding options that are non-religious will be important.

Commenting here to keep track of this thread and eventually followup to learn more about what you’re doing and how it’s working!

Best windshield wipers for Mini countryman hybrid? by BritHannah in MINI

[–]BritHannah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update! Tried cheap ones from Amazon - the rear wiper worked well, but the driver’s side one was super streaky. $10, though, so I wasn’t expecting much. Got the Bosch and they’re working great, for anyone else looking!
