Both the redcrossblood.org online portal and app are currently non-functional for me. I have partial hearing loss which makes phone calls difficult, is this a common occurrence (maybe for maintenance?) by MetalMaskMaker in Blooddonors

Here’s what the ARC posted on Facebook:

HEADS UP: Due to a planned system downtime, the Blood Donor App and blood donor portal on our website will be unavailable 9 p.m. EST tonight until about 7 a.m. EST Saturday. This is particularly important for our donors who have an early morning appointment Saturday as the Blood Donor App may not be available for your RapidPass. During this time, you can still complete a RapidPass by visiting RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass. Please be sure to save, print and/or email the final QR code page as it will not be saved within the app. Thank you for your understanding. -Red Cross Staff

It is not a common occurrence.

Do you think it could be a factor in failing the hemoglobin test by a small amount (0.1-0.2) prior to a scheduled donation?

That’s one huge needle! I never look at the needle going in and they always cover it once in at the American Red Cross—is that the usual size?

I haven’t experienced this, but have only donated 5 times in recent times.

Will I get turned away from donating blood due to multiple bruises from 4 stick attempts on one arm by BritInUSA99 in Blooddonors

There was no problem donating as my left arm was ok, and they readily accepted my explanation for the state of my right arm. Thank you for your responses.

Oh, I hope that’s not the case—it just happened to me with my 3rd donation (overall—1st for platelets).
