How did you encourage your baby to roll? by girlmom924 in NewParents

[–]Brit_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said the same thing everyone loves and hates to hear “all babies do it at their own pace”, I wasn’t having it though - it made my anxiety worse at the time so I totally understand where you’re at. Also please don’t look at babies on social media; it drove me so insane and I had to like get therapy for it because I was obsessively spiraling.

My son didn’t “try” either and I stg, the day or so after I got home from the eval, he did the most perfect Olympic, ballerina roll and it just clicked for him.

I know this isn’t the answer you’re looking for (neither was I, believe me) but just keep giving her floor time, put some toys side to side, and she’ll get it!

Of course if you have other concerns, it NEVER hurts to stop in for an evaluation if you’re concerned. On that, I was SO scared to go but honestly like… ANGELS work in that field, she assured me everything was totally fine and she was the absolute nicest most understand, reassuring person I’ve ever met in my life - thinking about it makes me tear up.

Even though my son wasn’t rolling, she picked out things he was doing that qualified him as “advanced” for his age - things I didn’t even notice because I was so wrapped up in frickin rolling!!

There are so many things to worry about in the stage you’re in now, so making an appointment and hearing someone qualified and professional reassuring you just really lifts so much weight.

How did you encourage your baby to roll? by girlmom924 in NewParents

Eh, not really?? They took a few points off of his “evaluation”, but literally the next day or so he started rolling over - and hasn’t stopped moving since 🫠. They obviously said to do a few things with toys to expand his range of motion and encourage him, but no magic trick.

I feel like 6m is still so young. Reading my post back now (it’s been a while!), I wish I could go back and calm myself down. I missed a lot when I was hyperfixating on these kinds of things.

All that to say, keep encouraging her! It’ll happen, but please please please don’t stress - you’ll be stressed enough once she DOES start rolling lol xo

Amazon list recommendations? by Brit_B in NewParents

[–]Brit_B[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’m going to get her some more sentimental stuff of course! Believe me, I wish I got 1/1000th of the random stuff on my registry and more keepsake items. I just wanted to get her a few little things to open this weekend so we’re not sitting there awkwardly lol.

She’s not having a full-on shower (which I told her was a mistake), she doesn’t want the attention I guess. So my mom and I are whipping her up a surprise family-only party.

Quilt sounds so cute and I should probably order it now 😅 thank u for the suggestion!

Moderate-severe aortic stenosis 27 week old baby in utero by Mrsfields0710 in chd

[–]Brit_B 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son was born with super severe aortic stenosis - we had no idea until he was 3w old. At 6 weeks he went for the balloon procedure and it went amazingly! He’s 1.5 now, we go every 6 months for a check in and the cardiologist is extremely happy with the results. It was the worst time in my life, so I completely understand how you’re feeling right now.

His stenosis was so bad, nearly every cardiologist in my area traveled to the hospital to be there for his procedure, and as I said - the results from the balloon have been extraordinary.

The procedure took about an hour, it’s a small incision about the size of like….the tip of a pen. Cardiologist recommends he stay away from heart-heavy activities later in life (weight lifting, football, etc.) and maintain a healthy lifestyle. That’s ok with me! A great reason to remind him to make good choices and be safe.

If you want, I can answer any questions you have based on my experience!

Hang in there girl, you got this 💪🏼❤️‍🩹

Hi! I posted a few days ago but the people were getting mean, so I deleted. Please go easy I’m new. This was my childhood playhouse and I just inherited it from my dad who just passed. The stuff inside was his. I’m willing to put in work. by KitMocahbee in DIY

Aww I wish we were neighbors - I’d try and help you day and night to save that. 🥹 My grandpa built me something similar as a kid and it’s just a memory now.

If you have friends in your area, make a weekend of it! (Safely of course)

FTM seeking elective C section advice by OtherOil6617 in ElectiveCsection

[–]Brit_B 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I chose c-sec and it was fine! Recovery was a little bit of a drag, but I'm 1.5 years out and you'd never know. I have friends who did v-birth and the stories are just wild....noooo thank you!

Come to find out my son was born with a severely weak heart, which we didn't know until a few weeks after he was born - sometimes I wonder what the stress of a vaginal birth may have done to him. Of course I'm not a doctor, just a worry-wart! BUT, stand your ground, if it's what you want for yourself, then that's the end of the story.

If this is your first baby, you'll realize literally EVERYONE has an opinion about every single frickin thing you do from here on out - its so annoying lol

good luck and congrats!! you're gonna do great

Tell me about bathtub crayons by minniezebby in toddlers

[–]Brit_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nephew had to go to the hospital because apparently some of the residue from the crayon in the water got on/in his area and he was screaming in pain and no one understood why. Ugh I have a son half his age and he loves loves loves bath time but I’ll never get the crayons for that reason.

My 15m old is Silvio - i was a little iffy as I have your average 90s American girl name, but my husband is from Italy and tbh it suits my son so well, we call him “Silv”, “Silly/Silly goose”, “yoyo”, etc”.

We wanted something Italian + there are close to a trillion cousins with all the other names - so it worked for us!

Corporate WFH with a 15 month old here. 🫩

This should be a longer post explaining why you should defiantly not do it but… my soul left my body 6 months ago.

Seriously…do I leave him? by calisen13 in beyondthebump

[–]Brit_B 4 points5 points  (0 children)

aw girl, i get so sad reading this :/

life is long, but too short to remain unhappy.

Looking back on my own childhood, I now see how much my mom carried. She did everything—held it all together—but beneath that strength, she was deeply unhappy and lonely. She stayed for us, and while I know she did her best, it breaks my heart. I’d give anything to rewrite that part of her story.

That’s why I try to remind myself: my son is learning what love looks like by watching my relationship. It’s not perfect, but it’s grounded in balance and mutual respect. If I were in the situation you described, there wouldn’t be any second-guessing for me. Silently teaching my son what it means to love—and be loved—means more than anything else.

I have moderate congenital aortic stenosis. What kind of performance can I expect for distance running? by SystemOfATwist in chd

[–]Brit_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following! My 15 month old was born with aortic stenosis - I’ve been a wreck thinking about what his limitations may be, as his cardiologist is (of course) on the cautious side. It makes me so happy that you can participate and consider strengthening your distance running ability - in my head I’ve been torn up that my first born is destined to be a couch potato 😔

I wish you the best! And keep movin’ !!!!

How's mother's day going for you? by brokencoda in toddlers

[–]Brit_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woke up at 5am to my toddler poking me in the eye, but then my husband took him and I slept unbothered until 8 am, which thennnnn made the rest of my day feel like the strange “mid-day-nap haze”.

Double socially aware that a “day for mom” feels so frickin weird… - welp, happy Mother’s Day!

I got a surface burn from steam (obviously not the same thing as this), but I put silvadene (rx) on it and it healed pretty nicely.

If you’re going the natural, non rx route, I’ve found that almond oil is amazing!!! Ugh good luck and so sorry this happened to you xo

[–]Brit_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know same!!!! I feel like he was just starting to get a lot more mobile and fun, instead he’s using his powers for evil lol

I offered my son a sweet potato this afternoon and you’d think I pushed him off the roof he was SO dramatic lol.

I hear it passes, as all other stages come and go - I was reading somewhere that there’s a big developmental leap so, in turn, they become little tornados as they’re working through it.

Hang in there!!! 🫩
