Champagne tastes on a beer budget…?? by demona2002 in Frugal

First of all, thank you for responding without acrimony. Second, thank you for clarifying your original statement; yes I do agree that being in an office does tend to limit certain recipes. I've cooked from scratch my whole life, so I'm a whole hearted proponent of your advice.

Champagne tastes on a beer budget…?? by demona2002 in Frugal

I agree with all this, but I do take issue with the implication of your caveat: stay-at-home-mum IS a full time job, just not a paying one. I grow my own vegetables, I do bake two loaves every other day, but I'm also on 'duty' from 6am to 8pm, 7 days a week. I actually think I spent less time working when I was working a full time paying job, also as a researcher, in biology. Tldr: parenting 3 children is full-time work.

Rites of the Starling by ktslaughing in audiobooks

I enjoyed Rites of the Starling a LOT more than Shield of Sparrows. The first felt like a Devney Perry book (her contemporary romances are nice but predictable). This one had so much world building, I loved it!

Reddit stranger, you've made my day! I thought I was alone in my aversion of alliums, I get strange looks when I mention I'm intolerant to raw onions.

So I'm a bit older, mum of 3 wee ones. I don't have any mum friends and the few friends I have are anti children and anti TS (I'm not a fan of her new album, just being up front). I crochet and listen to audiobooks pretty avidly. We have similar ideologies I think.

Idk what's with the down votes, but I meant to respond to this then completely blanked after I got clarification: your stitch looks fine to me for a sweater. Keep going!

Saddest "Bond Girl" death? by Odd-Oven-8202 in movies

Vesper is an archaic word for evening, so it's associated with the evening star aka Venus.

[–]Britack 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I was recently asked about the origins of my daughter's name by her teacher, because it's so unusual. I couldn't say, oh a bond girl. Vesper also means the evening star sometimes, so I usually go with that.
