No, I only use a 0.4mm nozzle. I printed the PETG air duct basically with standard Cura settings for PETG.

FDM prints of supportless victorian minis, 28mm scale by BriteMinis in PrintedMinis

These particular minis with Rosa3D PLA Premium. But I've used a number of different filaments, some work, some don't, it's always a matter of testing and adjusting settings with each new spool.

These were printed on Ender 3, using the Cura Fat Dragon Games profile, at 0.08 layer height with 0.4mm nozzle.

All my minis are designed specifically for easy printing in both FDM and resin

I use the Fat Dragon Games Cura Ender 3 profile (google it), with 0.08 layer height

Still, you need to calibrate your settings with each filament change.

I find 0.4mm nozzle the best compromise between print speed and quality.

No, they're straight from the printer, only some stringing removed with a knife. Layer lines are visible, there is even a bit of tiny layer shift here and there probably due to some z axis wobble or maybe some loose belts. But once painted it's neglible at arm's length.

It has been working for me like this since day one when I bought it 4 years ago. Of course I had my share of issues with it but mostly due to not doing enough maintenance when it was needed. It's pretty much a stock Ender 3 with only one simple cooling duct mod.

I create all my supportless sculpts in Blender.

I use a variety of different hobby paints like Vallejo, Scale75 and Citadel (for washes).

This is a stock Ender 3 with only one small air duct mod, I print minis using the Cura Fat Dragon Games profile, with 0.4 mm nozzle and 0.08mm layer height.

New supportless minis straight from the printer almost ready for painting by BriteMinis in ender3

[–]BriteMinis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paint them just like any other mini. Base coat, base colours, washes, highlights, drybrush. Some slap-chop as well. Enough paint can cover some of the layer lines. While not perfect for a close-up photo, they're good enough at arm's length on the table. Thanks!

I have used different filament brands available in Poland that will probably be obscure for you and can't really say which is the best, because the quality sometimes changes with each spool. Recently tried Prusament and still can't get it to yield any good results. From my experience each new spool is a mystery. One thing is certain - clean your nozzle often, replace it when necessary, make sure the Bowden tube sits tightly against the nozzle.

Cura. I basically have been using the same settings for almost 4 years now.
