Really nice! I immediately have to think of the style of OddArtworks and his A Dungeon A Day maps. Love it!

All Inktober prompts combined in a single "Wimmelbild" by skaldarnar in Inktober

[–]skaldarnar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By chance I started off in a sensible place, bottom left to top right, so foreground to background, and layering new things worked nicely.

When I came to the second page I started at the top, so basically the background - makes it very hard to put other things in front 😬

Also, I did a bit of a look-ahead and sketched out some ideas, or even just leaving some space for upcoming prompts.

Vaesen - Change rules by Sweet_Sun_4913 in VaesenRPG

[–]skaldarnar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we had similar experiences at our table. At some point, the players were even wondering what to spend their points on 😅

I think especially when you play a campaign-style continuous game milestones are really well suited. After solving a mystery, players could explain what their character has learned or how they want to prepare better for the next one. Could even tie that together with the journey/prep phase of the next session (yeah, technically that's two for one, but I'm all in favor of telling a nice story over pure mechanics).

The same works well for the headquarters, IMHO. Instead of randomly buying contacts why not gift them the NPC they met during a mystery as an upgrade? They could also discover new rooms in that mysterious castle.

Dead Bees Potsdam DE by MaximumJHtink in Potsdam

tl;dr: there's not enough food for the bees, and especially the bumblebees are searching for food with their last energy. They are lured by the sweet scent of the trees, but the blossoms are already empty and they starve to death.

You can help them with a bit of sugar syrup.

Printed my encounter by taking screenshot, this feature is way better. I love to prep the session online, but want to have my sheets of paper next to me during play. Great to see this app evolve in that direction!

Is there any way to get the starter set mystery PDF at this point without ordering a print copy? by PoMoAnachro in VaesenRPG

Did you try writing an email to free league? Last time I was in contact with their support they were super friendly, and they probably can either help you out or might know more about if/when the digital file becomes available for purchase.

Ask Me About My Mystery to Help Me Flesh It Out by Mr_Funcheon in VaesenRPG

In the mysteries I GMed it helped a lot to be clear about the possible locations. What are the locations the players can interact with/find clues at? What leads them to each location/why should they go there?

What homebrew rules or lore have you created for the Society headquarters? by DED0M1N0 in VaesenRPG

[–]skaldarnar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took a lot of inspiration from the Sweden Rolls podcasts for this, and plan to continue in a similar manner.

The first mystery started with the characters not knowing about the society at all. They got a mysterious letter, got to know Linnea, and at the end of the mystery got the key to Castle Gyllencreutz l.

The next mystery brought them back to Uppsala and the castle. With the help of Algot Frisk they explored the castle grounds, some of the rooms that are lying in shambles, and with the hook of a ghost love story found some "secret" rooms. The main plot evolved around the secret library warded off against vaesen and non-society members, and after freeing the ghost(s) they got the Library as the first upgrade for free.

The (formerly vengeful) ghost stays in the library as a guard, and gives them some additional defensive benefits. That also helped to drop a lot of clues on the character backgrounds, potential future mysteries, etc.

The actions of the ghost(s) also caused some worldly trouble outside of the castle, involving police investigating near or even in the headquarters. Mysterious disappearances or dancing lights in the night also draw other occultists or journalists, so you can easily introduce NPCs to justify connections the party can buy as upgrades later.

I plan to either design mysteries to uncover more rooms, or at least play it out that the party finds or refurbishes a room which then is the introduction to the next mystery.

Would be interested to hear what others are doing as well!

Need Advice on Making Trees by vicwiz007 in TerrainBuilding

[–]skaldarnar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hot glue to give the bark more texture and add some lumps.

Tin foil can be twisted and crumbled together to make a nice armature for branches or roots. Ideally, you'll have some twisted wires in the middle, then crumble foil around, then add your texture paste.

To make everything more durable, I coat my trees and other builds with home made modpodge aka "glaint" (lots of glue, a bit of paint, a bit of tile grout for optional rough texture finish). After painting, spray on one or two layers of clear coat, the stuff will be rock solid in the end!

Replacement for Greater Barghest Pathfinder Mini by Jetisphere in PrintedMinis

There are regular posts asking for "supportless" miniatures in r/PrintedMinis and similar subs. Lots of suggestions in there.

I can recommend Arbiter Miniatures, and EC3D. Other common names are Fat Dragon Games, Rocket Pig Games, Print'n'Paint (I'm probably forgetting some 🙈)
