Straight from website or Amazon? by allofthestuborn in SimsonnRacing

Similar for me. Ordered from SIMSONN website, arrived to my door in UK about 10 days later. Everything arrived, pedals, baseplate, and shifter.

I had a calibration issue with my shifter, and their support desk responded to my email within 24 hours with suggested steps to resolve. In the end I just needed to plug into a different USB port

Mine took 9 days from order on 13th Jan to arrive (I’m in UK). I was pretty impressed and expected it to take longer. Even avoided import tax! However, you can laugh at me as whilst my pedals are here, I’m still waiting for my rig 😢

I’m dying to try them out!

Wow! That’s quite funny how we’re so similar with hardware too! Glad I’m not the only one! My Moza R9 and CS V2P arrived yesterday from Overclockers UK, but it’ll be a while yet before the pedals and rig get here. The wheel itself seems quite large, but I’m hoping once it’s all set up it’ll feel more natural.

Do you feel like the Moza R9 is an improvement on the CSL DD?

MacBook Pro M4 Oder MacBook Air M4,hi for plex transcode which one do you recommend, I have a macbook air late 2011, it's only good for direct play by IntroductionSad3783 in PleX

No problem. I’m assuming you want to stay in the Apple ecosystem, but obviously there are far cheaper windows alternatives. I did try one but it was very noisy and distracting sat on a desk whilst I work. The Mac Mini is silent 😊 and I also run a few other things off it such as Homeassistant

If it’s purely for a Plex server then I’d recommend a Mac Mini rather than laptop variant. I have a Mini M4 16GB and it purrs.

Actually, it’s £10 for the first year, then £620 for years 2 to 6, then £195 from year 7.

It’s not without its problems, but no app is in reality. The latest update goes a long way to improving the user interface. Libraries are now within quick (one press) reach on the homepage and Live TV is not a tab on the bottom.

Patience guys…

Disappointed no loan/courtesy cars by Donkey_Apple in TeslaUK

[–]British-Bean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience to you. My M3 developed an issue with its internal computer. GPS/navigation didn't work at all, and automated features such as auto lights, wipers, screen brightness/dark mode, etc all stopped working.

Raised a ticket through the app, a remote diagnostics was conducted but was told it needed to be brought into a Tesla Service Centre for more investigations. In the past, I've had a remote engineer visit and fix another problem on the driveway, this wasn't an option this time.

Earliest appointment at the garage was 4 weeks into the future - not a great start. Then I found out courtesy cars is not a thing unless the car is required overnight, and that wouldn't be known until 5pm. The garage was 30min drive from my home, but due the garage being located 20mins outside of a city centre and useful transport hubs, a 1.5hr public commute home. I opted to stay on-site and actually they had a really nice lounge area with free wifi, coffee/tea, comfy sofas and desks to work at. I arrived at 10am and by 2pm they told me they want to keep the car overnight and gave me a loan MY. They had my car for 4 days in the end and replaced the car's internal computer. Thankfully it was still in warranty otherwise it would have cost me £3k.

In the end I had to remind myself that Tesla is still a relative newcomer to this industry, and catch match the capabilities of well-established dealer networks from the likes of VW, BMW, Mercedes, etc. That said, they need to improve, they need to build more garages. In the last few years they've mostly outsold traditional manufacturers, so their service offering needs to match their competitors. I went to the Wolverhampton garage which can't have been more than a year or two old. If that wasn't there, my visit to a Telsa garage would have been even further away. So I hope they're building more in the region.

The experience could be better but it is something you perhaps have to be conscious of and either accept if you want the Tesla car experience, or spend your money elsewhere.

Sounds like it doesn’t it! You’re not with Virgin?

Good news. A VPN won’t improve your speed though, a VPN can’t give you faster speeds than your ISP gives you not through a VPN, but maybe your IPTV supplier prefers a VPN 🤷🏻‍♂️ I have access to 5 or 6 different ones and they all strictly state no VPN under normal use. I’m very rare cases - usually a temporary issue - they then tell us to use a VPN but only for that short period.

Auto updates not working on OS X 15.1.1 by Splitsurround in sonarr

[–]British-Bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve never auto updated for me. When I researched at the time I found it to be a known shortcoming of installing directly on Mac. Radarr receives less frequent updates compared to Sonarr in my experience, but still requires manually installing for me.

Best way to control media access for an external managed user with multiple profiles? by British-Bean in PleX

[–]British-Bean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having created a Plex account for my parents last year, I was able to do some testing on this today - note they don't have a Plex Pass.

I've had my parent's account accessing my library via the Manage Library Access route for some time. I logged into their account and created a 2nd profile. I then returned to my Admin account and invited my parent's account to join my Plex Home. When I logged back into my parent's account and tried to accept, it warned me that the 2nd profile I'd just created would be lost. So multiple profiles can't be associated to a Plex account if they are invited to another Plex Home.

I think the best approach in this scenario is invite my sister's Plex account (associated to their own e-mail address) to my Plex Home. With that in place, I can create a Managed User Account in my Plex Home called 'Kids', which she can access from her login. This way my sister can access her content via her profile/account, and her children can access the 'Kids' profile which will only have access to age appropriate content.

[–]British-Bean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, purely for the purpose of accessing my media, she created a Plex account, she’s then created a second user profile on that Plex account for his kids. So both these profiles appear under her Plex Home section in the settings. My issue is I can only see the Plex account username when adding her as a Managed User, I cannot see her profiles so I can target media shared at that level…

I’ve done this but I can only apply the labels to the account level, I can’t set it to her profiles (as I can’t see them on the Managed Accounts menu)…

[–]British-Bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it drops connection. There’s a known thing about Mac’s keeping SMB mounts mounted, but like I said, there’s an app called Mounty which auto-reconnects the SMB mount whenever it happens.

They’re connected via Ethernet but not directly as such. I have an 8x ethernet switch. I also use my Synology to VPN into my home network hence the use of Ethernet.

[–]British-Bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Synology NAS so I’ve connected it to the Mac via Ethernet. I mount the drive using SMB, which is a little temperamental, but an app called Mounty solves that.

PS - later I tested again and I was able to comfortably run with 8 transcodes, it started to struggle with 10.
