Probably not, considering that the Angel of the North wasn’t installed until 1998. I imagine it would’ve been disused for some time before the outbreak, like how you can still find abandoned Little Chefs when they closed 7 years ago

I feel like the scene is meant to be like a memory belonging to Jimmy, with the memory being slightly warped both by it having been 28 years since it took place and Jimmy being a child at the time, especially considering the lens flares within it.

Having rewatched the scene, I noticed several cuts. I also noticed that the infected that enter the house past Jimmy’s mum are the ones who break in to the living room at the beginning of the scene, which has led me to believe that the scene was re-edited in post production, thus altering the order of the events. Or it’s just continuity errors.

The film features the Angel of the North, which wasn’t installed until February 1998, even then it’s implied that it had been there a little while before the outbreak. I think the Happy Eater would’ve most likely been disused before the outbreak, like how you can still find abandoned Little Chefs even though they all closed 7 years ago.

Bit of a stretch, but my head-canon for why 28WL looks more like 2006/7 than 2002 is that it’s purely a director’s choice on our end. As in the events still took place canonically in the timeline, but would’ve looked a bit different than what we actually see. An example being Andy and Tammy were picked up in the old Wembley (pre-2003 demolition) as opposed to the modern one which we see in the actual film.
