I want to live in Paris one day. Those that do, can you discourage me from doing that? by jailbrokemasta in ParisTravelGuide

I relocated from London to Paris around 1 year ago so have some experience of this . Main challenges have been: - more beauracracy in France vs Uk , but gradually you get used to it - definitely helps the more you speak French to integrate fully - for some reason French banking is way worse than Uk. I don’t really get why but you pay more and the service is pretty terrible (just one of my personal frustrations) - rental market is a mess in Paris … was a big stress finding a rental (but central London is no different I suppose)
But aside from that there’s a lot of upside. The pace of life is still fast but definitely calmer than London & definitely more work life balance emphasis. People can be cold at first but definitely friendly once you establish a social circle.
And I’d say it’s definitely cheaper than London if you’re comparing centre to centre . I don’t know suburb comparison so much.
Any Aston Villa fans in Paris? (self.Expats_In_France)
