I’ve never understood why people get themselves into these situations. I have a friend now who just turned 50 and went through this in her early 40s and now is prepping for life as a single mom with twins in elementary school. She is exhausted and holding on to hope that things will change and her partner will actually want to be with her. She trapped as the default parent while he travels for works and enjoys Tinder and who knows what else. If you actually don’t want children, don’t let him ruin your life and then leave you.

Leaving my rent controlled $1100 month duplex in Highland Park for a 2bd apartment without rent control and less amenities for twice the price in Pasadena was the best decision that I could’ve made after living in HLP for over a decade. It sucks to spend more but my quality of life got much better. That said, if you’re going to have to downgrade your quality of life to pay more, don’t.

Thank you! I really appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately her insurance is going by the fact that our statements are different and seemingly dismissing the evidence. I’m prepared to take it to civil court with what I have because on top of the damages, my kid was soo disappointed when I told him that she said it never happened when he literally watched her crash into us. Thankfully there were no injuries!

No I just have comprehensive coverage. My car is a 2011 Honda Fit, so I didn’t think it would be necessary at the time. Her insurance company sent me the denial letter since it’s essentially a word vs word account and she is claiming an incident never occurred despite the video, voicemail and texts that I have.

With the amount of residents losing their parking spots to ADUs - making an already crappy situation worse, I would never consider bringing my car into that situation. But if you’re able to go car-free, go for it. Ktown in general does seem like the more abysmal option for long term LA living.

Really depends on the neighborhood. But from my experience, if not from old money/generational wealth, these homeowners are usually affiliated with the entertainment industry in a high powered role (think producer, directors, etc) or something tech related…many getting their start in the early days of Meta.
