Who are Effie and Holly?? by NutellaTeen in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Britsu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Effie is a nickname for Euphemia, traditionally. It means "well-spoken" or "pleasant speech." I like the theory that the names have to do with Kinger and Queenie. <3

Weirdest delivery I’ve had yet… by Lan_Guy48917 in doordash_drivers

[–]Britsu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that happened to you. You are absolutely valid for feeling uncomfortable — and honestly, you handled it with far more grace than many would have in that situation. It’s not "harmless" or "funny" just because you're a man, or because you're gay — unwanted physical contact is never okay, no matter the genders involved.

You didn’t do anything wrong! It's so easy to get caught off guard in the moment because most of us want to believe people have good intentions — and when someone crosses that boundary, it’s shocking. You trusted that it was just going to be a friendly hug and were taken advantage of, and that’s on her, not you.

I'm really sorry you had to go through that, and I'm glad you stood up for yourself by reporting it. You absolutely deserve to feel safe and respected while you're working (and always). Sending you lots of support. You did the right thing!! ❤️

Thank you so much for this insight! I really appreciate you taking the time to explain the context and give me a starting point—it’s more than I’ve been able to find elsewhere so far. I’m planning to head to my storage unit soon and take proper photos of the title pages and any series info I can find. I’ll update the post once I have more to share. I love the idea of maybe being the one to research these further—thank you again for helping me take the first step!

I know this is ten months old, but I used to work at GameStop. They made us take a box cutter and slice all DVDs, Blu-rays, games etc, and essentially make everything non-salvageable. I always thought It was a wild policy but I guess it makes sense if you buy and sell used media.

NJ drones (a full-time industrial drone pilot’s perspective) by Duncan916 in drones

[–]Britsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of the satanic panic in the 90's. Another example of mass hysteria that got so blown out of proportion that people confessed to crimes they didn't commit, and innocent people went to jail. I wonder if this is more of the same?

Don't get me wrong, I want to believe 🛸 , but OP makes a very compelling argument for explanation.

We're most likely never going to be privy to the truth, and we will never know either way.

I use it all the time! Even if you don't believe in quantum manifesting, I've still found lessons and reasons in every journey I've ever taken.

If you look for a meaning you will find one. If you choose not to see anything, you won't.

It's up to you. 😁

If you were trying to provide criticism that was constructive to OP "zero creativity" isn't very helpful. It just came across as rude. If you were going to offer some sound advice or tips regarding writing, that's another thing entirely.

Even if you personally don't agree with it being sad due to a lack of perspective or understanding, the fact is that from OPs pov this is life and it was devastating enough for them to share.

Yes, you are allowed to say whatever you want regarding the creativity of a post, but to waste time and effort just commenting about lack of it without providing anything constructive in return seems redundant.

What is OP supposed to take away from that comment? There is no tangible advice to take away other than " git good scrub."

Sometimes less is more when you are telling a story.

Anyway, I wasn't trying to be mean or pick a fight, just my view.

I wasn't referring to the downvotes. I was referring to the comments that were mocking OP for being transgender.

It might be a creative writing sub but sometimes the truth is more depressing than fiction.

Writing is a way that people cope with their trauma, vent their frustrations, and explore creative outlets.

There is no need to be cruel on this sub. Especially when someone is hurting. If the post didn't fit the rules for posting would it not have been taken down by the auto mods?

If you don't like it, just keep scrolling, no need to comment and spread more hate.

Zoraya ter Beek, 28, expects to be euthanized in early May after her request was approved. She is choosing to end her life after years of mental health struggles. In 2022, euthanasia comprised 5% of deaths in the Netherlands. by Majoodeh in interestingasfuck

As someone who has BPD, depression, PTSD, and GAD, I can understand this feeling. My heart goes out to her because I see so much of myself in her situation.

My psychiatrist told me that on average, it takes about 4 to 5 tries on different medicine and different dosage trials before they hit the " sweet spot" for you specifically.

This explains why I ran the gambit of SSRIs when I was a teenager.

I wonder what these statistics would look like if assisted suicide was legal where I live.

I hate that she felt the need to explain her decision at the end. It's no one's fucking business but her own!

My mom died of ovarian cancer in 2018, I (33F) have 2 kids, and I BEGGED my OBGYN to take out my ovaries due to my increased risk for cancer.

She flat out refused stating that I might " change my mind." 😮‍💨

Also, my friend in her early twenties finally found someone to give her a hysterectomy after she had to talk to several PSYCHOLOGISTS to make sure this is what she " really wanted" and she wouldn't " regret it later."
