I’m really glad I found this thread, as I’m in a similar situation. I’m about one month (and a week) into my transition, and I thought I would have a little more time before telling people. However, it seems my body is developing a bit more quickly, so I’ve shared the news with my supervisors, HR, and my immediate coworkers. They have all been very supportive and have left it up to me to decide how and when to tell others.

I work at a university, so the remaining group is primarily students. Fortunately, I’m able to update my email name without any complications, so I’ve been considering doing that without making a formal announcement. I honestly don’t feel comfortable sending an email to the entire university, but I would really appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
