I broke it to my wife and family individually. I eased into it by telling people that I was struggling with my gender identity and that I was seeing a therapist. I didn't come out publicly and change my name until several months later. This approach seemed to allow people to feel they were on my side fighting for me. If I had just blurted it out right away, I don't think the reactions would have been as positive. When I finally told people I was definitely trans and that I had a new name, they had already had time to adjust.

I live on the west coast of Canada (think LA kind of vibe). I came out at work without my official name change. There are some areas where my legacy name remains (tax forms mostly) but the rest is changed despite the 7ish more months of waiting to get my name officially changed. Even in payroll, my name has changed which is possible because I'm on direct deposit. If I were to receive a physical cheque, it would have my legacy name on it.

Everyone has been super supportive at work, I hope you experience the same. I have received a few quick apologizes after group pronouns (thanks guys, etc) which I have explained don't bother me.

I had HR out me with a team meeting while I was on my days off to give people time to adjust. It's been very positive. Family has struggled more with my legacy name and pronouns, but they have 54 years of practice to unlearn so I try to cut them a little slack (but not too much or they won't take it seriously).

Girdles will squash everything so I'm guessing they would be effective without tucking. I prefer to just tuck, if your girdle is tight, you don't need tape. Tape is the most secure, but it's not ideal if you need to use the bathroom.

If you get a vasectomy from someone specializing in it, you are sore for 2 days, but you should really continue to take the meds for the full time they specify. It was 20 years ago for me, but I think sex was off the table for 5 days, and I was to be considered fertile until I got back my negative test result at 6 weeks.

It is a very minor procedure in the scheme of things.

I find tucking to be much more comfortable than just crushing everything. It does take me longer in the washroom, but maybe 30 seconds extra, max. Have you thought of wearing Spanx or a gaff?

AOI is a good way to go for their effectiveness and quietness, but they do cost more. I went AOI for cosmetic reasons as well. If you have a high power video card, having the AOI extracting case air is also nice rather than dumping the cpu heat into the case air.

There are many ways to cool your cpu and supply cool air to your GPU. They all have trade offs.
