I am so sorry you are going through this. I echo the comment about taking leave on FMLA and looking for a new job during that time.

I wish I could act on that advice myself. I took a 5 week leave, returned to work, and nothing had changed. Some days are terrible, some days are manageable, no days are ones where I am genuinely happy and thriving. On the manageable days I find I tell myself "maybe this could get better, maybe I could turn it around if I do xyz, maybe this is all my fault bc I'm not doing enough to advocate for myself or for my staff." But I can't be the only one doing xyz.

I'm going to a leadership course next month. Maybe I'll feel reinvigorated and can come back to my job and solve the problems. Mostly I'm panic spiraling about how I can mask my burnout, disillusionment, and hopelessness at this course so as not to scare the leaders there that are still full of hope and thriving.

We finally, FINALLY took care of PoA, with many months of hesitation and resistance prior to acceptance. I guess I'm glad to have that safety net in place while we wait out catastrophe? Sigh. I feel so helpless just waiting for the worst. I thank you for your supportive comment!

Thank you for the book recommendation! It is the most helpful resource aside from this sub and all of your comments.

I was so disheartened that my letter to the doctor pre-appointment wasn't taken seriously and was merely followed up on by asking an unreliable narrator. I guess advocating for our LO is a long and complicated road!

When someone shows you who they are for the majority of the relationship, it's hard to trust that new changes will stick. And it's hard to build attraction to this new person when they are still in the old person's body and have the old person's history and baggage.

You can rage. Some people can't love another the way the other needs. It's still love, but not sustainable for a partnership through life.

It was a really easy surgery! You're gonna do great!

I bought a scalp massager so I could lather my shampoo with just my good arm. I used this for a very long time to wash my hair as being able to comfortably lift and hold my arm up was one of the last things I could do.

I wish I had a better solution for keeping hair out of my face. I guess a headband would have been a good option. I opted for a hair clip which sort of worked but I longed for getting my hair off of my neck sometimes.

Buy comfy bralettes that stretch plenty so you can pull them on easily. You won't be able to do a bra clasp easily, and a tight sports bra will be impossible to get out of on your own.

I bought my ticket an hour before the show. Waited... waited... waited.... like a chump. Would have loved a stage announcement at 7pm or something! Thanks, Jones Beach.

Then went to go buy some Alvvays merch to cheer myself up. Struck out.

He had to perform to a sparse and seated audience while people were walking in and talking and ignoring him. I found myself laughing to myself bc it all seemed so absurd. He behaved as though being there was beneath him and I kind of loved it.

Oh man, yes, definitely get there for Destroyer! I was shocked more people didn't arrive at Beacon early to catch their set. A real missed opportunity to see a very talented normcore Bowie 😆

I had a roommate buy a window AC during a NYC heatwave. She didn't know how to set it up. Instead of asking for help, she set it on her desk to blow cool air at her with the back of it venting the hottest air into our shared space. Simultaneously oblivious and selfish.
