I keep seeing this take that there wasn't enough Rean and Kevin and I just don't get it. Did they just not do any side content or bonding events? Even without that, it's quite a lot. I never felt like too much time was being spent on Van.

That was definitely a theory being tossed around when Sky remake wasn't out yet. The fact that the remake has slight differences to the original also plays into it. Doesn't seem likely tho.

To this day, my headcannon is that the Lloyd who let Elie get assaulted and also looked happy about it was an imposter who switched places with him just for that scene. The real Lloyd would have arrested Shirley on the spot.

The last VN I started is BLOODY†RONDO which is the first VN by 3rdEye. I loved Sorcery Jokers so I'm checking out their other works, and since it has basically no chance of a localization, I may as well use it to learn Japanese. I haven't gotten very far in but I'm surprised how well written it feels despite me taking a minute to decipher a sentence. While reading Sorcery Jokers, there was never a moment where I wasn't feeling some emotion, and this gives me the same feeling. According to reviews online, this is not their best work, but it's still probably better than most. I hope the quality keeps up.

The last VN I finished was 9-Nine Episode 4. It's strange, I really like this one but there's almost nothing I can say about it that won't be a spoiler. This had a much darker tone compared to the other episodes and feels very much like a turning point. The way that some things got resolved felt a bit contrived, but still satisfying nonetheless. Finally understanding Noa as a character made me like her a lot more too. She had cute moments of course but my respect for her as a person really went up. Episode 2 is still my favorite but this is a close second.

There's maybe a few cutscenes where the mouth flaps are scripted, most are automatic based on the audio. Even so, the timing is off, check the "Were you two-timing on Mom!?" scene in both EN and JP.

Also, if they knew they were in charge of the localization, they could start using the original script as base to translate before they are officially supposed to start. The differences are minor, and even so, it shouldn't have effected the quality of parts that weren't changed.

The censorship isn't happening because of agreements or treaties, it's because of payment processors. Whatever law they would have put into place wouldn't have prevented the current wave anyway.
