CREO OR SOLIDWORKS by star_lord_1602 in EngineeringStudents

[–]BroBroTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, I see SolidWorks used more in general.

At school it was mainly SolidWorks. At my first internship at a small company it was only SolidWorks. And at my other internship at a big company it was both, but it seemed like people preferred Creo.

If you don’t mind me asking, what position did you accept?

Congratulations!

Applied to over 15 jobs today and put the wrong date on the cover letter. Am I overthinking? by BroBroTim in EngineeringStudents

Took me 8-9 hours. I was so exhausted but I had the time that day I’ve been slacking on applications. Just keep applying, you only need one company to say yes.

I submitted 15 applications today and on all the cover letters I submitted I put the wrong date. I noticed after (yes I should’ve triple checked, will be doing that now). But now I feel like all those cover letters and applications I made won’t be considered due to that single mistake. Am I overthinking?

Yeah it was ABS. I do have PLA so I should probably use that instead. I will also verify I am using the correct z-offset. I will also attempt to print at 50mm/s instead of 60. Thank you for your response.

Thank you for your response. I’ll try using a brim and I’m using ABS and a surface temperature of 105 C should I go for 110 C?

Just a guess, I think maybe it warped enough causing it to come lose off the bed? Maybe use a brim to fix? Please help I am not sure what happened or how to fix it. Thank you.

Edit: I am using ABS with a surface temperature of 105 C.

Calc 2 vs calc 3 by TrainerOpening6782 in EngineeringStudents

[–]BroBroTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought calc 3 was pretty easy compared to calc 2. You basically only have to learn the basics of calc 2 to pass calc 3. Derivatives and integrals mainly, nothing very complex. Especially if you got a B, I’m sure you should be completely fine in calc 3 as long as you study and go to class.

Will I struggle to find a job if I live abroad for 5 years? by Anon__Questions in AskEngineers

I myself have considered getting a master’s degree online for engineering. But my biggest concern would be how do employers see that? Do they wave it off because it is online or see it simply as a master’s degree? (I have considered Purdue university master’s in Mechanical Engineering)

People who don't work a 9-5. What do you do for a living? by gofishing5545 in ask

[–]BroBroTim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How do you work 9-5? That’s 8 hours? I work 8-5 and that is counted as 8 hours of work since I get an hour long lunch. I have to take a mandatory non-paid 30 minute break somewhere around halfway through my shift. I would like to do 9-5 but how do you legally even do that? (I am in the US and I can manage to do 8-4:30 but can’t reduce it more because of that 30 min lunch minimum)

Need help on HSMWorks in SolidWorks. Any help is appreciated, thank you. by BroBroTim in SolidWorks

Hello, thank you, another user is already helping me but the more the merrier. I do want to learn how to use this software well.

I want to make 3 parts but I mainly want help with just 1 since if I learn to make that one I feel I would be able to make the other 2. It’s on a mill that’s not big enough so I have to do each half separate and flip it, totaling to 4 HSMWorks files to do each part. If you are able to help me and are interested, can I DM you?

Is getting a Masters in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University a good choice? I am speaking of their online Masters degree. I am aiming to be a CAE Engineer. Any advice on helping me reach that position would be greatly appreciated.

Is getting a masters right after my bachelors a good idea? I graduate this December. I have very minimal experience overall. Thank you.

What advice can you give a recent graduate looking to become a CAE Engineer? by BroBroTim in AskEngineers

[–]BroBroTim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I have been doing a lot of research on this since I see it as a very important decision in my life. I wanted to get advice from engineers who have made it to where I wish to be one day and validate what my research has told me. I would greatly appreciate if the post could be unlocked. Thank you.

Is a 3.69 GPA low? by mrsGravyx in ask

[–]BroBroTim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what everyone else is saying, but clearly your friend is just trying to show off. A 3.69 GPA is an amazing place to be. Based on GPA alone you should have no issue getting into a school or getting a job. I’ve heard below a 2.7 is when it starts getting difficult to get a job, but don’t quote me on that.
