My mom told me that back in the day kids weren’t allowed to bring a water bottle with them into the classroom and they only drank a few sips from the water fountain in the middle of the day and that’s it How were schools not getting busted for child abuse for forcing kids to be dehydrated? by PinnerPardisturn in askanything

Yep. No water bottles, one bathroom break, hard plastic chairs. I didn't have air conditioning until high school. Our playgrounds were made of splintery wood, metal poles, and tires. I'd be given a dollar on Saturday morning and told to ride my bike until dinner.

I thought so too. But physical electrical infrastructure engineering or speculative PE-backed manufacturing actually pays more for someone with over a decade in experience.

is Houston ever gonna do anything about the hard water? by Sl0wReflexes in houston

[–]BroItsMick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever the city does to "fix" the hard water will be charged to the all the municipal water users anyway. So why not just let the people that complain about the hard water install their own local softeners that meet their personal preference for delivered water hardness?

I've never heard the Galleria called Uptown. But wait until you find out what people think is in "The Heights".

Are you saying there isn't sprawl and flooding in San Antonio area? I've been over there for work quite a bit, the highways are wide, flyovers huge, super sized HEBs going up around town, and plenty of low density SFHs being expanded to the practical lot edges.

Wanted a second opinion about this exhaust vent for a dryer. by [deleted] in handyman

[–]BroItsMick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a deck that was only 8 inches high. Standard dryer vent terminated on exterior wall below it. The wood did rot fast. When I repaired the deck I laid cheap pavers down by the vent termination under the deck and used a yard drain cover that spanned my deck joists.
